    Wells NV now....

Passed these two skateboarders in the middle of I80 Nevada. Was just shy of 90F at around noon and they were 30 miles from the closest town. Had read about them beforehand -- they're skateboarding across the continent to raise money to fight hunger. If there had been a bigger shoulder I would have left some sunscreen, water & powerbars on top of a little cash a mile or two in front of them...

Well thought we were going to Wisconsin but then about 3 am we get a message asking why we haven't left yet, we're not gonna have enough time to get there now, so hubby calls and say I spoke with my FM and load it's due till Thursday between noon and 8pm, well apparently that is not so it's now due Wednesday and gonna have to relay it to get it there on time. The next day spoke with FM and he tells us that yeah the customers decided they wanted it a day early and the load changed 2 hrs before he left to go home but no one came and told him. Which I believe because this has happen more then once and our FM is very honest with us, if he screws up then he tell us hey I screwed up but not this time. I really wish Conway would learn how to communicate better with not only the drivers but the dispatcher, it would make things alot easier. Not only did we have to relay it but the guy we relayed with is going to have to have it relayed too. :biggrin_2556:

What a two weeks, last sunday was traveling on 287 in Colarodo on the two lane hwy and had a oldman and his wife decide to do an illegal u turn off the shoulder into my tandems on my trl. No way out of it with oncoming traffic i watched their car explode into my trl only damaged the wheels on trl nothing else, totaled their car out and we all came out of it with no scratches or cuts or bleeding. I was given a non preventable nothing i could do about it and state trooper gave him reckless endangerment and another one for something u turn. Remember guys and gals they are not playing around with us when they say it happens in the blink of an eye it does. Opened my eyes wider i just cant believe there are really people out there that think they are invincible.

Agreed. This evening I relayed with a 10+ year company veteran who had specifically told ops that he wouldn't have hours until 0200 & asked that they tell me not to wake him until then. I didnt get the message and knocked on his door at 2200. Poor guy clearly had been in the midst of a deep sleep -- took him a few moments to rejoin the living

I had the same experience last year - incredible what the tandems did to that car. The Navajo youngsters who were inside were badly shaken but OK. She was a 16 years old, pregnant, he was driving, probably texting. I got the non-preventable also, but since there really was nothing I could do, I was thankful we all walked away, and didn't give a rip about the non-preventable. You're so right, a truckers world is full of potential disaster, often from other drivers, but we have a lot of responsibility to be focused all the time. Too bad we're human, we could be perfect. Like, when you're frozen in the right lane, someone pulls into the merge and don't look - until very, very late? How many times could that have turned bad? Anyway, it does happen suddenly, and we pro drivers have to be good. As good as possible.
