Just went over to the Ontario, CA T/A to meet a buddy who was cruising through town. The lots (both sides) are VERY full! There are plenty of empty spots, but I've NEVER seen that many trucks there on a Thursday afternoon!

Chatted with a couple flatbedders and one told me he has been there for a week waiting for a load, and 13 of his company brethren were sitting there too!
    :biggrin_2556:

Now, I know west coast flatbed loads are horrible (both in pay and quantity), especially this time of year (I'm a flatbedder too), but WOW!!!

How is the freight this time of year for Reefers? Drybox? Other flatbedders?

People running groceries are safest - that never stops.

We took a hit in October and November on LTL.

But we're trucking fine here. :biggrin_25519:

All I can say is drivers are getting busted running hot lately due to having a load and running illegal because they are behind on bills because freight has been so slow. In the same respect these drivers are turning down 500 mile loads. If drivers would take what they get and run they would see their miles go up.

I have a driver who refuses nothing (as long as it's legal) and he is always smiling and always loving his job (yeah it's sick, he says hey I love my job everytime I talk to him) He is the sweetest guy and politist guy :).

I know owner ops are a little different, but miles are miles take them and roll.

But yeah it really seems trucking has been bad lately :(. It's sad to hear a driver needs to run illegal to pay the bills because I all to well wish I could do something illegal to pay the bills, but I would rather be here for the kids:biggrin_25519:

After Christmas until end of February is usually slow in LTL in general for us. So we run hard when there is lots of work, and we go home on time or an hour early during the slow times. But its dead right now for sure!
