She has the gist of the idea, but I would put it a little bit more specifically than that. I have a simple rule that I have alway followed:

"Stick yourself somewhere in the food chain"

You can haul grain from farm to mill, haul finished foods from processor to store, or you can haul the garbage from transfer station to the dumpo, but in all of those caes you are in the food chain and as immune to work slowing down as you can possibly be. You may not get rich in all parts of the food chain, but there is always steady work, and a steady income is sometimes better than making a huge amount in a one shot deal.

That I agree with 100%. Fact is, pigs go to slaughter. Perhaps it's time I stopped looking at flatbed companies and started looking at reefers.

AMEN TO " steady income is sometimes better than making a huge amount in a one shot deal" I tried getting this through to my "bf" for 17 years and he finally did it, however now he doesn't do what he should and give me the check so the outcome is not helping the financial situation, but is helping the mental of me wanting to hurt him from sitting on his butt all day while not working and not doing ANYTHING around the house:biggrin_25523:

I have been working pretty steady. It's a little slow right now but I get paid by the hour so it's all the same to me.

well not all groceries are up and running full bore this time of year. I do beeer and other beverage products and Ive only been hitting 8-9 hour days lately. during the summer its usually more like 12 (yes i do log correctly) but a 9 hour day is better than sitting in no doubt. besides when the weather clears we'll all get more work than we can handle anyway

Well, beer isn't groceries here! LOL!! We don't sell liquor or beer in grocery stores.

Yes, Burky, that's exactly what I meant. Thank you for expanding upon it. :biggrin_25519:
