I thought of another question concerning getting paperwork in order before orientation. I have some gaps of unemployment from being a housewife and then going through a bad marriage. I'm assuming Prime would want someone to verify these gaps for me. Do I get a friend to simply type up a letter and sign it or does it need to be from a professional who knows me? Does it need to be notorized?

Those are recruiter questions. I simply had to list times I was unemployed, and say why I wasn't working. I'm sure "housewife" would be accepted.

I prefer the term "domestic engineer." But that's just me. :biggrin_25523:

I got my orientation date moved up one week so I will be in Springfield on May 28th. I am excited about this new opportunity, and the more I hear about Prime the more I like it. Looking forward to become a member of the Prime family,,,,,now to make the cut the first few days!!

Do you mean when we come back after the first three weeks? What about before hand? Do I need to brush up on the permit exams now even though I have my CDL?

You will NOT need to take any written exams. You will have to pass the skills tests (pretrip, backing, and driving) after you finish your 75+ hour PSD phase to move to TnT.

Those are Prime requirements to graduate from the PSD program. If you pass all three on the first try, you will get the same trifecta bonus that the permit students get.

If you're at the 7 AM class on Tuesday, you've made the cut. It's on you to not disqualify yourself, and the biggest way people DQ themselves is by trying to hide things in their past.

By the time you get to Springfield, Prime has already spent hundreds of dollars investigating you. They already have your police reports and DMV records, and they will take your fingerprints during orientation for an FBI background check. If you got busted taking a whizz on a dumpster after a graduation party, they already know and have decided that it's not going to be a problem. What WILL be a problem is if you aren't honest enough to disclose it.

If there's something you didn't disclose, I would do two things:

    1. IMMEDIATELY get hold of your recruiter and let them know. If it is something that is a deal breaker, it's better to find out before you quit your job and spend the weekend on the bus, only to get sent back home at your own expense.

    2. You WILL be filling out another job application. This is the one that counts; the one you did online was used to make the decision to do the background checks on you. Make sure that *everything* is on this one. If you put something on this one that you didn't put on the first one, then they will have to review it, but they are a LOT more likely to forgive it as long as they hear it from you. If you do NOT disclose it, they (and all other trucking companies) consider that to be filing a false application, which WILL send you home.

I mentioned the dumpster issue for a reason. This past week, there was a student who did exactly that. We (the ten or so of us in the waiting area) spent the next twenty minutes or so entertained by his responses during his interview. First, he insisted that he didn't do it. When he was shown the police report, complete with his mug shot, his tune quickly changed to "I didn't think that was relevant because it didn't involve driving". Then, when the three counts of 'failure to appear' were brought up, he was back to "that wasn't me". Somewhere around here, he was given 15 minutes to get his stuff and get off the property.

Prime seems to be very tolerant of stupid stuff done more than a few years ago. The one thing they won't tolerate is dishonesty.

so prime is already aware of what the applicant did or did not do in the past before they make the trip to orientation. and they just want to see if the applicant will admit to something he did in the past that wouldn't get him disqualified in the first place (pissing on a dumpster) and when he leaves it off the application. they tell him to get off the property.
is it just me or does that seem very immature behavior for people in the corporate sector? to be wasting peoples time as well as their own.
its like someone in the personal dept. who wants to feel big and powerful is getting their kicks out of playing games with people who just want a job.
if they already have a means of finding your detailed records from the past why even ask in the first place?
'the one thing they wont tolerate is dishonesty" so I guess all the honest drivers that make it through orientation are instructed by the safety dept." in the event of a accident to tell everything that happened to the trooper so he can fill out a honest report. if it was your fault be honest and tell it to the trooper"

It's quite possible that the arrest record didn't arrive until after the applicant was already on the way. If he'd owned up to it, he'd still be there. As soon as he insisted it was someone else, he was cooked.
