Back in February, a major server crash occurred that caused the site to be offline for nearly 2 days. In the aftermath of that disaster, we immediately switched from our old server administration provider to the server administrators who solved the issue. As another layer of protection, we decided to add a second server to host TruckersReport, so if the first server were to go offline then we could switch over to the backup and continue running with minimal disruption.
Due to supply issues getting the specific hardware parts we needed, we only just received the new server this month. Prep work was completed over the past two weeks, and the server administrators were scheduled to seamlessly integrate the server into our network at 3am EDT Saturday. Due to a lack of oversight on my part, the server administrators grossly underestimated the scope of the work, which led to the downtime Saturday evening. We also lost the posts that occurred in a 2-hour time window between 10pm and Midnight EDT. Unfortunately, we will not be able to recover those posts, and I sincerely apologize to anyone who was affected in that way.
The server administrators are now better informed of the scope of the work, and in order to fully integrate the new server without losing any more posts we will need to shut the forum down for a few hours. Currently, that maintenance period is scheduled for 3am EDT Monday, and the estimate I received leads me to believe we will be operational again by 7am EDT.
The irony of having the site crash when I tried to make it less crash-able is not lost on me. It would almost be funny if not for the stress that it causes to all of us in this community. I'm very sorry and embarrassed about the mistakes that occurred last night, and the lessons learned will help me avoid similar issues in the future. Thank you for being a member of this community, and I appreciate everyone being so patient.
5/20 Update: This morning, the techs realized that they were not adequately prepared to integrate the new server during the scheduled maintenance window. To avoid causing unexpected disruptions, the maintenance has been rescheduled to tomorrow, Tuesday, from 3am to Noon EDT.
I appreciate all the support in here, I'm hopeful that 3 tries is our magic number.

For my .02... I am humbly greatful for EVERYONE that puts so much effort into this platform and giving "us" such a great tool of communication...

such a task as this is NOT simple nor hassle free. Technology is a marvelous thing... when it is working properly!
These "down times" makes it very clear that I am "addicted" to this forum thingy!

God bless to y'all and keep up the good work! ~Bigdubbersuperpet39, bullhaulerswife, airforcetoo and 11 others Thank this. -
I myself see no reason to be embarrassed about losing a few posts. You are trying to make things better for us and if losing a few posts then that is nothing to worry about in my book. I am sure that the people on here are very grateful that you are trying to make it as great as possible for us to have a site that we can get so much info. I think you are doing a great job.

I don't know what I'll do! I might have to... have to... actually talk to other humans instead of staying in a dark room cuddling with my laptop?! The horror.
Oh, thanks a lot for the forum. It's truly the best of it's type for this segment, and that's saying a lot when we look at the size of the net itself. This theme upgrade was an awesome move, too. Cheers.allniter, Mastertech, d o g and 3 others Thank this. -

You sir have no reason to be embarrassed nor do you have a reason to apologize to any of us. We choose to use the forum which is on the internet which is not fool proof. Its perfectly fine with us if theres a few hickups. We're just happy to have a way to connect with everybody else. No need for apologies no need for embarrassment. It happens we all understand that. We just appreciate everything you do! Thank you!!!
