LOL....thanks anyways emulsified..... yeah here is the deal... we had the trailer initially towed from I-75 to TA separate from tractor because the axle is basically shot... then TA couldn't or should i say didn't know what to do, so then we had to get the tractor and trailer towed again another 20 something miles to KENWORTH.... been at this since saturday, its monday, still have that load of nice light fig paste in the back if anyone wants it....lol they basically said because it wasn't meat, there was nobody even remotely close to my location, i think y'all had the closest truck about 300 miles away? DM said it is no longer a scheduled load and would need to be rescheduled... thing is this axle and spindle snapped, Kenworth is hinting at 4 to 5 days if they have to call in the "AXLE Surgeon"... had to change hotels from being close by TA to 20 miles other direction to be closer to truck and load at dealer.... I would say one can enjoy this downtime, but this is certainly a roller coaster....lol I am glad that super single didn't fly off though, or this truck would have made the news, it was and the internal damage is that bad!!! the pics are crazy.. everything is shredded inside there.

Crazy how this crap works, dunno what KW is scratching thier heads about just replace the whole #### assembly and deal with the warranty on it later. I swear as drivers we get held up more often than not because of warranty crap and the haggling that goes on back and forth. All those demolished trucks behind the shop I am sure somewhere there is a donor truck and overnight what is needed to get you rolling again. THe problem today is we dont have mechanics in this world any longer, they are all computer technicians. If the box does not say whats wrong they have no clue as to what to do. Cannot believe that something as simple as an axle assembly is befuddling them. Remove and replace entire rear end assembly and do the autopsy later to figure out where fault lays be it maintainence or manufacturer defect. I know its not a Stevens issue, just these shops really get under my skin at times for how they hold us drivers up.navypd Thanks this.

Just an FYI, I heard that first week of June is the annual sweep that DOT is planning, I dunno if this is true or not, but a heads up just in case it is. Do NOT feed the bears lol.

Well the 'incident' that got me so fired up the other night was addressed by management yesterday after I came in.
To Stevens credit, they were very professional, realized a gap in the training procedures and have addressed that and resolved everything excellently. (is there such a word?)
Actually, it was the source of a lot of laughter around the office yesterday before I came in (HE wrote THAT?!) and the manager that dealt with it got a good laugh as well.
Monday nights are usually fairly calm. Sundays are the craziest for the night/weekend crew as we try and save loads. By monday night, the post mortem is done and most late loads have been rescheduled, repowered or finally delivered.
I searched for a broken down truck in Knoxville, but couldn't find one. I remember getting a team their motel room sunday night and trying to set up a repower for that truck, but I don't keep those notes and couldn't read them the next day if I had them anyway.
So Navypd, you must be lost in the twilight zone or I'm living up to my level of incompetence.
A word of advice to all you drivers out there. I'm being serious here.
If you're in a severe weather area, get parked. If there are tornados in the area, don't sit in your truck and look for funnel clouds. Get inside the truckstop. Stay away from windows.
I sit next to night safety and can hear many of the conversations as well as have some of those myself with drivers.
No, we won't fire you because you sought shelter during the storm, even after having given you a safety talk about staying with your truck!
No, you won't be safe just because your truck is heavy.
If you're not sure, send a Macro 52 telling us you're heading into the shelter due to weather.
We'll deal with it and you're covered.
And I know you've all heard this before, but it bears repeating: Know your conditions ahead BEFORE you leave your present safe haven. Know where the stops are and your next safe haven...and the next, and the next.
PLAN your trip!
And most of all, COMMUNICATE!
Last of all, if you're in an area that has had a tornado, an earthquake or a rapture. please, please, please.... send a macro 52 and tell us "I'm safe."
It saves us from having to spend so much time tracking trucks and trying to call to see that you are safe.
Yes, we really do that.
As incompetent as we seem at times, we really are concerned.nascarchuck, msa and Corporal_Clegg Thank this. -
still here at Kenworth/Hotel, was told earlier that DM was trying to find a truck to recover that may be sitting somewhere within a 100 mile range? this T-660 I am currently in is not going anywhere soon, the bearings basically melted down from inside and chewed up everything inside the axle area. it's 1500 now eastern time, i seriously doubt she has found a perfectly running tractor within my range to hop into. guess I will go hop in the pool. One thing I have learned in all my years in the Navy as a 20 Vet is there are things you certainly can't control, and any headache you get can sometimes be because you chose to get one.. I will be standing by,all I can do..

Do you really want to stay in that truck looking for the tornado?? It may be heavy but . . . .
