I have a '05 Cat. C-15. Lately, it has started and run for two to three minutes and dies like it is out of fuel. I can crank the engine, excessively, and it will start and run normally. This happens when I let it sit for five plus hours, definitely, overnight. It has been suggested that it is a weak fuel return check valve. But if fuel is draining from the engine, why does it start and run for two to three minutes?
Truck wont start problem.

Uses fuel left in lines and bowl then cuts off I guess.
-
OK, but where would the problem be?
-
in the check valve like you were told, its a simple fix. just replace the check valve.
-
Yes the check valve. It's nothing but plastic, ball, and a spring
-
where is the check valve located exactly on the n14 cummins engine red top?
-
OK, so replaced check valve didnt work. Replaced fuel pump didnt work. Changed Filter also. The problem is in the O-rings of the injector on mine it is the number 2 injector which has bead O-rings. That sucks the fuel back to the tanks and doesnt let the truck start, Going to replace the O-rings and everything should start fine.

Do you really believe that. I've run probably every type of fuel filter you can buy on my truck

OP if replacing the orings doesn't fix the problem, check your solenoid and the starter. You can try the old screwdriver trick to turn it on just turn the key to the on position and make sure parking brake set.
