Yes I am a new driver but I am no idiot. They promise you a minimum of 2500 miles a week. I have never got 2500 miles. I am getting 1100 a week. I am otr and I have been out 7weeks now. I only got 1100 miles last week and 900 this week. They lie over and over and say freight is slow. Tried switching dispatches all they did was give me another dm on the same board. I hate it here. I am a vet from iraq freedom. No lies, soon as I get a yr I am gone. Only way you will get good miles depends if your having sex with a planner or a driver manager

Pardon my skepticism, but "new driver" and "idiot" go together far more often than they should these days. Spend a bit of time perusing the posts on this board and my statement will bear itself out many times over.

Just wondering, how long have you been with this company?
-
They are still doing things the same (Wel) I tried to drive for them last year in October. Are they still doing the 20-30 person orientation classes every week? I was with them for 1 month. Recruiter told me I would get 2500+ and I never got over 1000. Talked to my dispatch about this and her reply was he lied I can't give you any more miles! Every load I got was a 4-6 stop load what a pain. Would take 2 or 3 days to get off 1 trailer full of crap then do it all again. I would be lucky to get 2 loads a week then back home for 3 days or more. Dispatchers will push you over hours and not care. My dispatch pushed me over my 14 hours twice the second time is when I quit. I switched to H.O. Wolding in November and I have never looked back I love it here! Their recruiter did'nt lie about the miles she has been pretty much right on the money. They only promised me 2000 a week, I do get those miles plus some or maybe a little less at times. They are a great company and repect their drivers our safty and the equipment maintnance I think is the best. Boy am I glad I left Wel Companies! If you get the chance to check them out do so. H.O.Wolding in Amherst Wisconsin! Just thought I would add my 2 cents on this thread! Good luck to you!
jthompson28 and Arial Thank this. -
I've been driving with wel since jan. Yes 30 drivers a week in orientation. They lie all the time. Ltl load of 357miles spaced out in a 3 to 4 day span. They said freight is slow but hire new drivers weekly. I just dont understand being lied too. I cant even pay my bills each month robbing peter to pay paul kinda life. 2 to 300 a week is my pay at Wel

If it is such a bad company as you say, why are you still there? Why wait a year to find something else? Unless you signed a contract for training/schooling with them saying you must drive for them for a year or have to pay back so much money, then I ask again why are you still there? There are tons of other companies out there, many of which you do not need a years experience to get on with.

Oh really? See I thought companies want to see experience and not a job jumper?

Him staying or not staying with this company will show if hes man or mouse. Why go some where else only to run into the same problem.Considering his exp,his choices are limited.
-
Exactly, him staying with this company will prove he does have thick skin and can handle trucking. My first company sucked but stuck it out.

I agree with the part of companies want to see experience, but the op said that he can't even pay the bills each month. So why stay someplace for another 6 months not being able to pay the bills? I have switched companies a couple of times myself, and have found a place I feel is a good fit for me, and provides me with what I need to be successful and take care of my family.
Nick2001 Thanks this.
