steer tire wear

I know of shop mechanics who would not want to say king pins are bad, cause they did not want to do the labor that was involved in them. make sure you ask some one who you trust, or has a good rep.

 

Your 3 axle should fix it....unfortunatly once a tire starts to cup like that its over and I cant tell if you have dirctionals or not but either way rotating is not going to solve it...pay attention to how many shims it takes to correct it ..that should tell if this is your problem or not....tomorrow after you have drove for an hour or 2 , lift your hood and feel your shock...then feel your frame...if your frame is hot and your shocks are not...they are bad...when they do the alinment your steers will be off the ground pull out at the top and push in at the bottom with your foot then reverse.. if there is play...kin pins...good luck hand...j

 

Wear on outside on left tire and inside on right tire is a prime example of your truck pushing to the left. 3 axle alignment should fix the cause.

 

A trailer pull can cause the same issue.

 

Having same issue as well...i know the trailer i pull is f$''d up on the spread getting a new one next month suppose ill wait and get a 3 axle align then

 

Get the three axle now. You can chew up a set of steers in that time for $1000 REAL quick.

It's been almost a year now since I have almost the same effects on my steer with those that spoke before.
I have done everything. Change the kingpins, they said; so we did. Change the whole tie rod, together with the tie rod ends. Done. Three, 3 axle alignment and new tires. Done. Driver's side hub, changed; passenger's not. Shocks: changed. U-bolts tied down. Don't know what else to do. All I know is that after a while my tire (usually the driver's side one) starts wearing from the inside. I have to spend money on new tires almost every 6 months and I can't make money like that. I am about to believe in... ghosts. Any suggestions? PLEASE HELP!

 

Are you using the same tire or swapping brands. Some tires just don't wear good under certain situations. Try a different tire

 

I've had similar problem once. Ended up being crooked rim. This one won't balance no matter what and putting insane amount of weights on it doesn't help either. There is a machine the service dep should have to check for the bended rims.

 

No. It is not the same tire. I have to change it because it is so worn out that I can't use it.
