Never weighed our trucks bobtail but probably between 18500 and 20,000 with 12 fronts, 40 rears, 82" stratospheres, short hood and air liner suspension with single leaf and headache racks with 10 3/8s chains and binders.
-
The old ones were heavy, the new ones not so much. I have a 13 speed and a 76" Constellation 4964EX with a 265" wheelbase. The first thing I did on my test drive was put it on a Cat scale. And it was in the 18xxx range. With me, my tools and crap, headache rack with chains and binders, 10 foot drop tarps and this 2013 Fontaine 51' Infinity TX, I'm slighty under 32,000. The trailer is 11,xxx lbs.

AJ, MBE.....say any more?
Mind, I did see some LM502's (v8's) at the Claas factory and got me thinking....
Thanks for the weights guys! There is one I really like in Tx, but it's kinda steep price wise I am thinking. 2007, 291k miles, 14L S60 putting out a claimed 650HP, new 18 speed and a APU, 72" sleeper (IIRC). Looks totally immaculate from pictures, but the guy is asking $73k for it! Previous owner did trade shows apparently and traded it in for a ICT sleeper.
Specs I am looking for should anyone know of a good rig up for grabs:
2007-2009 (No DPF)
Minimum 70" Stratosphere sleeper
Full gauges
@265-275wb
13 or 18 speed
12 or 13k front, 40k rears
Detroit prefereably, but may go with a Cat as they were OK (I think) to 2009.
Lower miles and CLEAN condition.
Basically an O/O's rig that has been looked after.
Many thanks

Must be an 82" stratosphere don't think they made a 72. Price seems a little high although it is pretty low miles. I'd say more around the 60k mark would be more reasonable.

Here is the advertisement on it:

I spoke to the guy today, told him I wanted an actual scale ticket from that specific truck, after he tried giving me general weights etc. I asked what his lowest price is, he said that price is firm...

Also, does the lower bunk lift up for storage etc? My underbunk area is full of stuff in this Freightshaker!
I have seen pictures where there looks to be a space in the middle of the bunk, underneath. Anything supposed to go there?
Martin -
Its definitely a clean looking unit! Definitely a 82" bunk not 72. Does the truck have warranty? I'm a little skeptical of the 650hp thing, never heard of a 515 being turned up to a 650 without modifying or changing the calibration file in the ecm although its not a big deal but seems weird how he says reprogrammed not reflashed. Basically the exact same thing just different wording.
Personally If I find a truck I really like it may be worth more money to me to have it. Maybe with the money in his hand he would come down a bit. If you can't come to an agreement there will be another truck come up for sale.
The bed does lift up but most of what you see by lifting it you see from the side bunk doors. -
Mine lifts, but the ac is in the middle. I'm pretty sure they changed this in later models to offer the dinette option. Have you considered a glider?
-
Would love a glider all built, just dont want to pay for it!! Not seen any used ones neither.....
May have a guy wanting to buy my current rig, which is good. Bad thing is, he needs all the headache rack, boxes, etc left on it! If he gets a loan and pays me outright, I may get the one in the ad above. I haven't seen one with all the stuff that has on it so far. I am guessing the lower row of switches is for locking diffs? If so, most of the other ones I see are blanked off where that one has the switches.....
I did say I would finance it for him too, with a hefty deposit. My current rig isnt worth snot without the rack etc on it, so would be a way to get top $$$ for it. I told him $25k for it set up (if he pays me all at once). He will need his own chains etc, but the rack, boxes, generator, etc all stay for that price. The one above has a APU already, so that will save me a couple of grand, and the tanks are set forward, so more room for tool boxes behind them. Sounds like the seller knows well and truly that the rig would be perfect for rgn work, as he also sells heavy hauling trailers etc too.
Ideally, i would put @$20k down on that to keep the payments lower, then spend the remaining $5k on new headache rack, boxes, ramps etc to get it ready for work. Like I said....ideally!
I also need a cert scale ticket for it, to make sure it will work weight wise. Wont be as light as mine, but with all my stuff on/in it, I need it to be at or under 22kl lbs
