OK - So, to summarize it : If I join Gordon as a company driver on Jan 1st,
1)how much will my W-2 show as gross income the following year?
2)How many total weeks will I have been out on the road?
3)how many days off will I have been home?
4)will they have provided me with 401k / retirment match plus med/den/vision at less than $260/mo. for individual?
5)If DOT gives me a full roadside inspection plus a 10 log check: will I score at least 90% compliant? -
Well I called Gordon about possibly joining their southwest fleet and was not impressed the least bit. First off the recruiter kept talking over me and was acting like I was wasting his time. When I asked how much CPM I'd get he told me 30 cents a mile since my experience can't be verified. Yeah right, it would be like starting all over again. Bottom feeders!

Hard to say what your, you, as an individual's w2 would show. A lot of things could happen, so that is hard to say. The company can only give you an estimate based on what other drivers take home.
How many days at home, wow, don't know, depends on how much time you take off from work and the companies policy on home time.
The rest, well, how many companies out there have that 401/med plan.
^. If you don't like what the company has to offer, go find a company that does. You don't like Gordon, big deal, you do not have to work there. Don't get mad because it is working out okay for somebody else. For some folks, it seems to be working out just fine for them. Great, good for them. If it doesn't work for you, go find your version of the workers paradise someplace else. You trying to prove a point that Gordon is a terrible place to work. You made that point, but, for some others, it works for them.truckinmike1984 Thanks this. -
Just curious; with the paltry take home pay that these large companies offer, how is a driver even able to contribute to a company "offered" 401k? Or even a family medical plan when the monthly contributions sometimes equal a full week's pay?

very good question.. Probably one of the reasons turn over rates are so high in this industry. Also, how many jobs are out there that a person can support a family on just one income... There was a time in this Country when workers united and demanded that Companies provide adequate pay, benefits and compensation for hours worked. They also demanded that the Government enact and enforce laws to prevent abusive employers. Maybe its time the trucking industry to demand that pay and benefits be brought up to date. While we are at it, drive down the ridiculous fuel prices that also make it hard to make ends meet.bigjoel and truckinmike1984 Thank this.

How do you know anything about the company when you refused employment? I don't get that. You wanted what you wanted and you weren't going to try to work with them and you're still whining. Take the tampon out.
