Parked 1995 Volvo with N14 for a year. Installed new batteries and went to start. Will only run on starter fluid. Where should I start? Fuel filter has fuel.
no fuel

Check that you put the computer wires back properly in the batteries or that the ECM has proper power and ground you probably forgot to put an ECM wire bak or one broke so the ECM is shut off that's y the truck doesn't want to run check the batteries and around make sure you did not miss any small wires.

the n-14 red top has a fuel check valve past the filter.follow fuel line from filter to ecm cool plate . right there is the check valve at ecu. this motor is known for check valve sticking closed!

Another vote for check valve.......common problem, and easy fix.
-
first of all check for voltage on shut off valve. If no voltage - check for CEL lamp in cab. be sure no engine ECM connectors, fuses are rusty
Heavyd Thanks this. -
the check valve is before the filter thats why it plugs up. Also the cooling plate behind the ECM might be plugged up, sitting that long you could have alge in your fuel. Check the fuse on the ECM you can go to napa and get a noid light and check if your getting signal to injectors. also you have screen in the fuel pump check it. was it running good when parcked?

If you figured this out, I'd be interested in knowing what the problem was. I just overhauled a CAT that's been idle for 2 years. Thought I was starting it today but it had other plans. Fuel is making the trip, and the truck will start on ether. I logged on to see if anyone else had this experience. Thanks
