I don't want to pour gas on the fire but this company is the exception. During my 4 month period here I was not offered health insurance, I was refused to have the shocks replaced on a 2005 freightliner ( because they were not leaking oil ) but the tractor rides like a go cart. After telling the safety mgr. [ name withheld ] he smiled and said the shocks cost $300.00 each and it gets worse from there, last but not least the new or newer tractors went to team drivers ( new or with the company for years ) or drivers who are with the company longer then yourself. Mind games indeed even if you have a proven safety record as a professional driver.

Tractors all ride like go karts, after all they are 80,000 pounds with the worst roads in history. Older drivers and teams getting new trucks? Well sure havent they earned it? When i started here at ozark i got a 2008 columbia, should someone who has been here longer got mine and me gotten a newer one?
Its trucking man it doesnt always fall to your favor. -
My trk rides like an old farm tractor.Thank god im not top heavy, lol.

obviously you have never seen the change in a tractor ride after new shocks were installed. So I get it your one of those driver that goes along to get along. I see you skipped over the part where I mentioned the safety mgr. knew the repair was needed by sporting a facial expression

I understand what your saying, but shocks (unless broken) is not an out of service violation, it's an option. Not something I would have went to safety about. When that truck starts eating steer tires and breaking other parts I suspect they will pass it on to some unknowing o/o. You are a company man, drive it, get your check and go home. I have heard of these bigger fleets going 50,000 plus mile on a oil change. They sure aren't worried about shocks.

Hey kudos to the fly by night company that wants to see their cat engine blow up on the highway then blame the driver for not adding oil. Im glad to see that your one step away from being the bosses alter boy but in the real world long term successful trucking companies don't operate like jinx trucking.

I would agree that the shocks probably needed replacing, but going to safety is not going to accomplish that. Safety has many other things to worry about that will actually effect the CSA scores, driver comfort is not one of those issues. That would have been more appropriate to take to an ops manager, or a shop manager.

Should have thrown some oil on the shocks .
Meltom Thanks this.
