I am a noob on all fronts of trucking. Just finished MTI school for Millis Transfer and going out with my trainer for about 6-8 weeks next week. I know this is getting ahead of myself a little bit but I want to plan as much as possible. What is the best entry level/mid level cb and what accessories do I need to get for it? My budget for all of it would be $200 or less.
Thank you for your input!
Ok, a stupid question but I'm asking anyway...

Either a Cobra 25 LTD classic or a Uniden PC 68 is all the radio you'll need.
If you also need an antenna, get a Wilson 2000 trucker. Use good coax like RG8X, and either have someone tune the antenna for a low SWR of 1.5:1 or learn to do it yourself (super easy) and you will have a good set up. -
Thank you Turbo-T...I was looking at the Cobra 29 mainly because that's all I have heard about. Your info is much appreciated.

No problem. the Cobra 29 is good too. The only reason why I like the Cobra 25 over the 29 is because the 29 has the built in SWR meter which is not near as accurate as an external inline SWR meter. Also because the 29 is a little bigger than the 25, however performs as every little as the 25. So I figure why pay more for a physically bigger radio with a useless feature.
Of course the Uniden line of radios offer stellar performance. Uniden does make a PC78 which is the twin brother of the Cobra 29, usually for a little less. -
I installed a Midland 1001-Z on my Jeep, with a Cobra antenna(HG-1600 or something like that, I don't recall for sure). It works pretty good, found somebody with an SWR meter to tune it, and it works pretty good. A bigger setup would be prudent for a big rig, of course, but what I did works great for something small like a Jeep Patriot and the whole thing was about $50. A good SWR meter off of Amazon.com would only add another $20 or so to it. There's alot out there for that kind of budget, and it depends mainly on where you're going to mount the antenna and how much space you have for the rig.

Does the blue tooth feature work well on a cb?

If ya get a chance check out e-Bay. They have great deals on CB's. Got my current Cobra from there for cheap.

You said your budget was $200 or less? I got lucky a week ago, and picked up a General Lee, which is a 10 meter Export radio, for $205. They are far better then your standard CB. You have to do some searching but you can find some of these radios in the price range of $180-250. Export radios are really ham radios, but have been setup to work on the 11 meter (CB) band. Mine will swing to 40 watt all day long.
If not then I would also agree the Cobra 25 or 29 are great little radios.
Oh also look at picking up an Astatic 636L mic. They are noise cancelling and make a world of difference. Most stock mics are junk, are not noise cancelling mics. -
Yes, what he said. Worth the investment.
