Also take a look at Craigslist. A lot of smaller companies advertise there too.

And, I would strongly suggest that before you buy or lease *any* truck? Make DARN sure you love what you're doing.

I just finished Epes Orientation and my first run with my trainer is Long Island New York. We leave N.C. on Monday afternoon. At 52 years old I'm excited about this new trucking career. My old job and life was a very different.

I would not recommend buying or leasing a truck to anyone unless they've driven for a few years first. That way if you find that you don't like the OTR life, you're not stuck with a 5+ year contract agreement that will hurt your credit.

You might check community colleges for cdl training. I went to comm college in NC in 1992 for cdl.. it cost $ 210 for 2 month course and even had some new tractors there. Most people go to work for a big fleet for a year to gain experience. Maybe you could find someone else to hire you also. Don't be in a hurry to buy a truck. Maintenance and fuel add up. Rebuilding an engine can be $12000 - $21000 or even more. I own a truck . Drove 5 years before I bought my first one. Fuel could be $ 80, 000 or more per year. Most of the time you won't earn more with your own truck. I own one because I like what little bit of extra freedom I get . Like going home for all holidays or other time off. I am single and debt free. And some guys do make good money with a truck, but they are not usually with a big fleet. I would suggest CRETE CARRIER for a new driver . They will hire rookies sometimes. Be prepared to be on the road 4-5 weeks at a time for them living in MT. CRETE would be good to get experience. Good luck.
