In a lot of these local gigs, and Mclain and MBM you are the driver and the lumper. As far as they are concerned the "CDL" stands for combination driver lumper.
And for Truckerocrazy, I do believe that Mclain and MBM are very simular, especially since last I heard Mclain bought out MBM.
Stay away from MBM. They are one the worst companies I've ever worked for.

I'd actually rather lump freight than drive 600 miles a day. I like the physical activity and driving is boring. MBM near.what.I live is constantly hiring. Need a year to get in though. No exceptions.

They constantly advertise here in So. Cal for drivers, that's why I looked here. I figured there was a problem since they advertise 65k your first year. I think they have a permanent ad here in craigslist.

I think its a pushing out method which evolves over time. They push some work out on the others to lower their costs like in supermarkets you need to walk and pick up goods by yourself. You spend much more time in a store then once when a salesman pass them over to you. Maybe you dont know but in a modern store you work like a salesman and sometimes in a warehouse like a lumper. -
Ahhhhh, food service!
If you'd have told me during my interview, "Here's what we do in a nut shell...we unload 14,000 to 16,000 pounds of groceries...200 to 300 pounds at a time...down a ramp, up some steps, down some steps, and into a cooler or pantry...at 2:00 in the morning", I'd have never taken the job.
