Hi, my name is Rebecca but I've chosen southernmade for my name because well I am. I also posted this in the Conway section but this also pertains to anyone getting started. Anyway I'm a 41 year old wife and mother and underemployed. I owned my own business for 5 years but shut it down this year because of the economy. I've been looking for work since last year and all I can find is part time minimum wage work and that's not working for me. My husband and my father both were truck drivers and I've wanted to do it but everyone of them talked me out of it. The women that are my friends think that it's a great idea. I've been looking at companies and I've really become excited about Conway and have applied for the student trucking. If they like me, do you all know how long it will take to go through the pre-employment stuff, like checking me out and interview process. What are the schools like and are there more women driving now than when my husband was driving in the mid 90's?
Howdy yall

A lot of companies actively recruit Women drivers. They wreck less, are easier on the equipment and basically are better drivers. (statistically)
