I was there as well. And I remember people complaining constantly about the rules and how the 15 in 24 didn't make sense and needs to be fixed. We've reached the point where be careful what you ask for is proven to be true.
New HOS rules?

I hate the 14 hour rule.
airforcetoo and bluerider Thank this. -
what was the 15 about?
I think they want to do away with OTR all together. That's why all these new rules after new rules ... -
You could work 15 hrs in 24 hrs. No more than 10 hrs driving time between 8 hr breaks.airforcetoo Thanks this.

I'm just wondering who I bill at the FMCSA for this 30 minute break we're now FORCED to take? If I'm gonna be forced to stop, someone needs to open the checkbook. Oh, and it's not a 14 hour day anymore, it's a 13 1/2 hour day. Thanks FMCSA........
-
oh no., you didn't really work 14 hours to begin with, did you?
airforcetoo Thanks this. -
70 divided by 14 = 5 days ... yikes!

Most of the time you spend numerous hours at a shipper or receiver. For me, I'll log the 15 minutes I have to show for loading/unloading, then the rest is sleeper/off duty. There's my 30 minute break for the day.
I don't see this being a big deal, really. It's 30 minutes. I can't see how a driver actually drives 11 hours every day and has 3 hours on duty time. If you do, then, wow....I hope you are making 6 figures.
Taking that 30 minutes on the road or at a shipper/receiver should be a simple deal. Now the 34 hour restart having to take place over two midnights might create issues for some but I don't think it should be too big a deal.
IMO, they need to worry about all the down time we have at places that kills our 14 hour clock and our wallets. That's the stuff they need to be focusing on.airforcetoo Thanks this. -
'they' being our employers I'm guessing ... DOT and/or even FMCSA dont see or possibly even care about how much we wait; it's not hurting their pockets ...but it IS causing greater fatigue ... what we need is a well written letter and everyone on here to sign a petition or something

Wrong. You could not drive after 15 hours on duty, 10 hours driving. You could be on duty not driving for 70 hrs strait, just not drive after 15.Sublime Thanks this.
