I am thinking about getting into the truck driving business. It's something I have always wanted to do but I am curious about one thing. I had a D.U.I. charge in Canada in 1987. Getting a pardon in Canada will not be a problem, all it will cost me is a little time and money. What is a concern is entering the U.S, as a long haul trucker. Would I have problems entering and exiting the U.S. as a long haul trucker? Thanks in advance!!
A 26 year old D.U.I.

Think the farthest I've heard companies go back is 10 years however there probably are exceptions out there.
EDIT - you meant border crossings sorry, good question though not as strict as Canada I would imagine.mje Thanks this. -
If you have only had one ever and the last one was 26 years ago I wouldn't be to concerned. But as crazy as it is getting you never know. The CDL laws were different back then anyway. Good luck.

Check with Canadian Consulate. They could tell you if it will be a problem crossing over or back

What I understand is Americans trying to get into Canada is much harder than Canadians getting into the U.S. American border guards apply a thing called "Moral Terpitude" A D.U.I., according to American Bordrer Guards doesn't qualify as M.T. Canadian Border Guards are much more strict. Don't know why.
