sounds like you are presuming a lot
dont bank on presumptions -
I didn't presume anything, I simply asked a legitimate question. Which you expertly sidestepped.
-
Blitzes rarely will turn a truck loose without some sort of violation. Can they? Sure. But I'd rather not bet on it.
It's a three day push for a bunch of feel good publicity.truckon, EZX1100, driverdriver and 2 others Thank this. -
we cant all be mr perfect most of us try but cant always get that covetted little im better then you sticker. sometimes u will have that ####### of a cop that thinks he's better then you because he has a badge and a gun that probally got a low test score on his state police exam so now he is on trucker babysitter duty and holds a slight grudge (not saying all are bad or even most) just enough to make life hard on a lot of us.
We are all out here doing a job some better then others some not some more efficiant then others some not so who cheat and some who dont and that goes for both side of the fence.
me personally would just rather avoid ALL contact as much as possible i could care less about that little sticker if i get it cool if i dont then so be it i know what to look for next time. i will do my best and that is all i can do. does that make me a bad person??? -
Sorry.... read the title to this thread and had to chuckle! "72hour blitz, what's this?"
Just a recap....
They do it every year in the spring time just before summer when the weather is warm enough and its sunny out, it allows for DOT to come out of their coop and play outside! They are basically compensating for the winter time. This is also a good time of year to catch drivers without permits/renewals.
Its good and bad! Provided everything is in order and your logs are good you will receive an inspection sticker and this is usually a pass for a good part of the year. When they see the sticker in your windshield then they know you are either legal or that they have already gotten money out of you. They have a better chance of making money off a truck that hasn't been inspected yet. -
Not true. I've been stopped a couple of times during a blitz and never received a violation. It's like Windsmith said: run legal and you won't have an issue.
-
Because drivers are the idiots who will allow their employers to walk all over them.
-
I hope this is scarcasm and you really don't believe it.
From what I've seen in the past most states that I've been in don't participate to an unusual level... I was even surprised to see Illinois and Ohio closed during the blitz, I'd think due to budget shortfalls.
The places I have seen go absolutely overboard in my opinion was Saskakchewan and Alberta, I've counted up to 25 DOT 4 wheelers and been waved through because they didn't have room to park another truck. -
oregon and washington actually have a three day orgasm
