I talked to a Melton recruiter a few days ago. He mentioned that they do a hair follicle drug test and that it goes back two years. Is this true? Everything I read online says these tests go back about 90 days depending on hair length. Does Melton take the hair from somewhere other than your head to go back this far? Ir they just saying they go back two years to scare you. If the test goes back only 90 days, I'll have no problems, i stopped smoking a year ago, but if it really goes back two years, I'll just skip them and drive for someone else, as I don't want a dirty test on my record. Thanks for any help.

 

I doubt he's trying to scare you, simply misinformed on what he's telling you like many other things coming out of recruiters' mouths. You're good to go.

 

They take it from the underarm, at least the one I did last year. I'm not sure how long, but, two years seems like a long time. I google it a year ago. A lot of things come into play as to how long things stay. Amount and frequency of use are a huge factor. They are calling your bluff, the longer they go back, the more expensive the drug test. just google it, you will get the facts there.

 

I looked into it some, they need an inch of hair for every ninety days. However, these test are not cheap, acouple of companies said it would cost about a grand to test for a two year period Then they said they would need a lot of hair to go back that far. That could get real expensive. What they are really looking for is, recent, consistent use. Something you cannot so easily catch on urine tests. Saying two years is calling your bluff. Just google it for yourself, you will get all the information you need. They took mine from the undrarm because my hair is short.

 

They will ways tell u they test as far back as 2 years. The hair test only goes back 90 days. When my class was getting drug tested during our 1st day of orientation, if u didn't have hair on your head then they will need to get it from somewhere. If you don't have any hair then they will send you home. Just the same for the urine test. If you can't piss in a cup in a 3 hour period. That's considered automatic failure.
They don't take your hair follicle. They just cut it with scissors. Enough for them to send out. If its been a year for you then you will be good. It was for me, I stressed but was good.
