I went to a private school.....paid a down payment and financed the rest through the school, paid them off since then.
Went to work for TMC right out of school.
First year I made $49,000. I could have made more but my daughter was 2 at the time and I wanted as much home time as I could get to see her every weekend. I am operating out on my own now, set my own schedule and clearing about $1500-$1600 a week, before personal income tax.

you sound more like a recruiter for this college.I'm going to call them and see just how long their waiting list is.
-
you must not have much of a life.... I highly doubt Rocks is a recruiter lolRocks Thanks this.
-
whatever,a 4 week course is nothing more then a crash course and a good colledge is 8 weeks or longer. The colledge I attended was 8 weeks and heard its longer now.
-
LOL
pattyj.... you have been here for a while... you should know better than that... But you are right about the 4 week course. They teach nothing... there's practically no practice and no training... barely enough to pass the CDL test...
pattyj, slomocopshow and truckon Thank this. -
AH! And one more thing pttyj... Please do call them and when you do, tell them that skinny lady from Brasil is still trucking...
-
I like your attitude.Glad you did'nt take offense to what I said.
Rocks Thanks this. -
A college is a 2 year program or longer...
An 8 week course is a certification. -
You know... in Brasil, in order to obtain a truck driver's license, one has to start with a car, then move on to a bus, get at least 2 yr experience and then move on to a truck. When I first started, I was amazed about how easy it is for one to get a CDL in the US. But the real learning happens in real life... once you start working... specially in the winter.
pattyj Thanks this. -
We paid cash for DH's training, although Georgia has the HOPE scholarship so it was a lot cheaper. Considering he's a newbie (graduated from Chattahoochee Tech in December and began driving with Crete at the end of January) he's not doing badly. We sacrificed some and paid cash so that DH would have as much freedom as possible to pick where he wanted to work, and not be a slave to a stingy contract. So far so good. He's come a long way and I'm proud of him.
Ellietruckon Thanks this.
