Trucks all clean and everything is in order just like every other day. However I will be at the house until I can get a load worth turning the key for, and their has not been much out their as of late.

Bottom line is this annual DOT check is to make money. If safety is such an issue then why not this DOT check every day of the yr 24/7 including holidays, including during adverse conditions.I asked a DOT in KY why are'nt you out their inspecting,he said he's not dressed for it.Big deal its your job.

If you were running for public office, under the 'Rotten 2 The Core' campaign slogan, not only would I vote for you, I would put your bumper sticker on my Texas bumper.

More people then not target truckers. They have to see what goes on with 4 heelers but nothing ever gets said how bad they are because the very ones who target trks are 4 wheelers themselves.Spaceballs over exaggerated a bit, quite a bit.

or the ticket for no blinker fluid:biggrin_255: Fully stocked up on both AMBER and RED fluid , and made sure its SUMMER air in every tire and the air horn.

And you beieve this? Google up dishonest police and see the page fill up. :biggrin_25510: I have been around this game / stuff likely longer than you I know the game and pass the inspections.

And I agree with pattyj it should be enforced 24/7 not with 2 weeks notice on a yearly basis.

We are slowly replacing our older trucks with new DEF equipped tractors. The DEF will make a white stain if it is spilled on the DEF tank. One of our driver's got inspected and the DOT guy got upset about the stain. That driver should have rinsed off the spilled DEF or been more careful whilst filling the DEF tank.

I know. But did you know the same things that we deal with are the same things that the lawmen and the military deal with? Sarge says, "We have orders to take that hill. We need that hill ASAP." Do you want us to sneak up on the hill or do you want us to TAKE that hill? If you tell me to take that hill, that means to me that when I tell you the hill is ours, you can drive up at the top of the hill and have a picnic. Don't ask any questions about who was living on the hill.
They say to the lawman, "This is a high crime area. Clean it up." Do you want us to drive around aimlessly 8 hours a day and hang out in coffee shops in high crime areas so that people will see us, OR do you want the area cleaned up? If I tell you, it is clean, don't ask any questions.
They say, "We need this load delivered here ASAP. Jobs are depending on it, and millions of dollars are riding on this project. Can you get it there safely?" Absolutely. No scratches, no damage at all. Perfectly. And if you look at the paperwork and fuel receipts, everything matches and is legal. Don't ask any questions.

But then, disaster strikes. They call in the national guard and enforce martial law. All the lawmen leave their families and bunk down in firehouses. And they waive HOS for truckers bringing supplies and pay good rates. Funny how that all works.

But get the media working the general public and all of a sudden. "Oh, how terrible. The military was torturing terrorists! Those poor souls in Gitmo Bay. Lets close Gitmo down! Such a horrid place!"
"Oh, that poor motorist Rodney King. Those evil cops are flailing on him mercilessly."(Never mind him punching a woman's lights out earlier)
"Oh, that evil truckdriver blew his horn and scared me, made me lose control and drive into the bushes!" (Never mind that the 4 wheeler cut across 3 lanes at 80 mph in the rain to exit).
