Do you really doubt the intent of the new HOS isn't to reduce work hours and add more low paid hours so drivers can be convinced they need to "organize " to make a wage they need to survive ? There has been an attempt to eliminate the restart and reduce driving hours back to 10 ever since the new HOS came out .

Cutting the 1/2 hour off of the 14, is an attempt to appease the safety pressure groups. I'll bet there a nudge and a wink in their direction too that the "milk 'n cookies" break may actually cut down available time on one's 11 too. They've been pushing to eliminate the 34-hour restart, and the 1AM to 5AM plus once-a-week deal pretty much does that.

I don't think the FMCSA want's to see more low-paid, low-experience drivers, but I do believe this is a left-handed effort to cut driving time.

So, exactly who in LaHood's life got killed by a trucker?? Ask yourself that... he's all for airplanes, ships, n' trains. But trucks? Why the effort to shut-down trucking???

it's not just lahood that knows someone who's a friend of someone who WAS a parent till the deceased.

it's everybody and there flipping dogs. they ALL know someone who's married or acquaintances or someone who's brothers with someone that knows someone that's been killed.

    you know what i mean.

everybody wants the trucks gone. and they don't even think for one second how the world will stop once trucks are gone.

While y'all continue your fight--I thought it was important to note--and y'all NEED to remember this all started with WALMART--yup the evil empire--it was one of THEIR COMPANY TRUCKS that feel asleep on the Maine turnpike--in the 90's and killed those 4 kids--he was way over hours--etc etc--this is the incident that spawned PATT--and got Public Citizen(already in the railroad pocket)move out of consumer product protection(nader's original battles)and into his wife's(yes Joan Claybrook)pet peeve--and along with help from then Secretary Lizzie Dole(yup Bob's wife)also long in the railroad and insurance companies pockets)That started the whole lets change HOS rules way back then--and of course what good Walmart on the super safety kick--tryin to save face--and settle for as few million out of court as possible
    Just sayin
Now back to our regulalry schedualed bickerin:biggrin_25518:

The tinfoil hat post, hmm, you have have a point there...seriously...

And LaHood will soon not be Sec of Trans anymore. This guy will: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Foxx

And I think most of it is that woman, the head of the FMCSA, Anne Ferro.

Keep in mind that Warren Buffett, owner of Union Pacific, stands to profit more from reduced truck freight. And from that, the entrenched left stands to gain, via political contributions. Follow the money.

Why do you think he's fighting so hard to keep the Keystone XL pipeline from being completed?
