I'm a new fuel hauler, and I will say you made a good choice! Get a routine, and stick to it! I still have a lot to learn, but so far I enjoy it. I wish at times I could do more driving and less loading/unloading, but it all pays the same! Any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks guys im really looking forward to this opportunity, dieselgeek thanks for the advice. I told my 5 year old daughter next time daddy came home he was staying home and she nearly screamed my eardrum out and broke the speaker on my headset...lol

Dont get rushed, if the guy training you is not relaxed and patient just tell him you need more time. Go at YOUR pace not his.
I had the best trainer in the world, he showed me what to do then would ask if I understood. If I didnt I would say, "show me one time" he would do whatever it was, if I didnt remember the steps later he would quiz me, "what are you going to do next"? Man that was awesome knowing that i could tell him what i was about to do and if it was wrong he would say "you might want to do... next".
I hope you get a trainer like that.RockinChair, HeWhoMustNotBeNamed and manskewl Thank this. -
Gas hauling is definitely a step up from mega carrier OTR. No doubt about that.

Two tings to think about
1.Never pull the lever until you double checked if the product will fit and is it the right product going into the hole.
2. Double check your work.
Oh. did I mention to double check? Just checking... -

i gave up OTR last year. i had been working for a very small company here in chattanooga. the main freight supplier closed here and moved to alabama. the company tried to survive by finding freight from chatt to decatur alabama (48 and 53 foot reefers) and it just didnt work out. i stayed as long as i could, but nothing ever happened. i hated to leave, the owner was a great guy and i couldnt have asked for a better boss. but when im not making money, i gotta go. so i applied at one place, got the job and worked out a notice.
i left and took a job for a long time company here in chattanooga driving a dump bucket trailer. i run from chattanooga to atlanta to cartersville back to atl to cartersville, then taylorsville back to chattanooga. there are many other runs they do, but this is the one i do the most. that and chatt tn to monroe tn.
screw that other place that didnt offer me a job cuz i had no experience operating a dump bed. i followed another driver for 3 days, and they showed me the tricks and proper way to operate the dump bed. its not that hard. its kinda easy. you just have to be very aware of what is around you and what is above you before you raise that bed or open the doors.
home every night and off most weekends. and the best thing is it is a legitimate job. taxes taken out every check. cant beat that.
screw the northeast and screw OTR. -
hauling around a bomb is better than working for one of these mega carriers
i love it!
