Can anyone tell me how I how to go about hauling containers from rail yards in the Dallas, Tx area without using a freight broker or leasing on to a company? I own my own truck and have my authority. Thanks for your help.

You need interchange agreements and insurance through the exchange ( so all can see ) and a load of cash to go long on receivables. So say you want to pull HLC out of UP's yard at the 272 mm. You'll need and agreement with UP and HLC and if you need a chassis, and agreement with GCCP.

It's generally not worth it however if you must.... contact someone like Landstar or Acme whom might have such agreements in place and stroke a deal for 10% of the billing and bring your own customers.

Thing is, UP and MVO's are butts. If they say you tore it up then you did...and you'll pay them or they will lock you out.

You'll also need a billing dept. Most lines demand completed paperwork faxed within 24 hrs or they can delay or deny payment. It's in the agreement. Bulkhaul demands the jpeg file for all photos....speaking of which Bulkhaul is bad on payments. They will kick your invoice because it wasn't dated right or you missed a digit...anything to delay payment.

    jmo and good luck
