MYDATTRUCKSTOP IS a free app. and tells you where the scales are.

and sometimes there is no scale for miles. washington and oregon come to mind. i picked up a load by the canadian border. 4 washington scales. thank goodness they were all closed. cuz the closest truck scale was spokane. 200 miles. and i was 700 over gross.

You can take the truck any place you want, but the trailer is staying put.

I was 4000 over on my spread one day crossing into Arkansas......

I only got a warning, but I have to move the weight forward a few feet :biggrin_25523:

This was years back. The street names were listed in the wrong order.
Went to court and beat it though.
MArion,Il. has made money over the years and have caught guys running around their scales.
They used to have pics and fine amounts posted on the wall at one time..
Their hall of fame wall to speak

    CAT Scales has an app.
Turn or your phone gps or put in a zip.
it will map the 5 nearest locations.

yeah, but what if a truckstop is 5 miles away. and the closest cat scale is 200 miles away. not every truckstop has a cat. and cat isn't the only game in town.

I recently pulled into a WA scale and asked for a "courtesy weigh". Showed them my bills where I'd picked up and that his coop was the closest scale. No problem, but I could have just been lucky.

Most times a cat is close and the app maps it out in seconds.
    Or you could
    - check the MYDAT app
-- check the qualcomm scale feature
    -- search google maps
    -ask the shipper

The guide book would be my last resort.
A rotary phone and dial-up internet works too.

Don't you just HATE single pad scales?!?! #### state boys figured out how to get us spreads for being over. I have been over on my spread before but never got caught. Last time was like 3200 over on the front axle oh well no single pads so I didn't worry.

I got a $600 ticket once and the boss paid that by mail since it was his idea to overload it. I also got scaled another time at 83,400 and mr.dot let me go on that since there were no scales from the field to were he got me. That guy was more concerned about my 15ft wall of hay. He was the only DOT guy NOT okay with us doing that, we had passed all his co-workers everyday and they would wave at us.
