My wife and I will be traveling from New York to Greenville, South Carolina on January 28th. The majority of the trip will be on I-81 South into Charlotte, NC. I have two questions I hope y'all can help me with. 1) I have a diesel pick-up so I need to find Truck Stops along the way so we can fuel up. Any recommendations? In the past I would go onto CountryTrucker.com for a route map that listed diesel stations, but they are long gone and don't know where else to find good maps online with that info. 2) Can you give me any advice as to which ones to avoid and which ones you recommend?
Any help would be appreciated.

log on to pilot's web site along with flying -j , ambest, loves country stores, hess, wilco, petro, sites they give locations of their stations. or go to a truck stop and get a "pocket truck stop guide", ( $5.00) at any truck stop. they list most major stops by state and highway for e-z- reference. I live by it on the road. Just do us a favor and use the pumps out front meant for p/u trucks, and not the ones designated for big trucks around back.
Thanks and have a safe trip.

Hey good food can be found at Whites t/s in Raphine Va on 81, killer food good prices. also can-am t/s just a little north of scranton in Pa also 81 I think. Just stay away from the barf-fet in the flying-j.

Whites Truck Stop is good, but the Lee-Hi Truck Stop at exit 195 in Virginia is better, I think. Of course, Whites has the gun collection to look at.
In Penn, Carlisle has loads of truckstops, the Flying J's good there, then the Truckstop in Mt. Jackson, Virginia has a Dennys next to it, then I like the Lee-Hi at exit 195. Those are pretty good. -
Thank you both for the information. Stevens Sucker: I'm going to check out the websites you recommend and check out Whites in Raphine. I'm also a trucker and can relate to your request for p/u trucks to use the pumps meant for them. MXH: Great advise, thank you so much.
Safe miles to you both! -
well if you come down 78 to 81 there are a few smaller truck stops
theres a love's right at 78/81 split, although you have to up up 81 for a mile or so
carisle has a ton of T/S, Flying J, Pilot, Petro, couple smaller places
81 south from there, at exit 29 is a truck stop, exit 12? in pa has a T/A
In MD, exit 5B has AC&T truck stop
at 81/70 interchange one mile west on 70 has a pilot
81 south through WV doesnt have any truck stops
we use to at exit 20 use to be a 76 and a T/A and now its a wally world lol
81 into va has a Flying J at the 323
81 at the 273 has Sheetz truck stop, citgo truck stop
81 at the 213 has pilot
yeah whites T/S isnt bad cool place to stop
same thing with the Lee-Hi at exit 195 is also good
i cant remember much about 77 into NC i havent been down that way in a while
but if you run down 81 past 77S before 77N there are 2 flying J's back to back
i hope this helps a little -
You are lost already, and haven't even departed, yet.

I-81 don't go to Charlotte, NC. I know you are already aware of this, but, I just couldn't let it slide.
Have fun on your run.

Ooops! My bad. I meant the majority of the trip will be on I-81 to I-77 into Charlotte.
Thanks for keeping me in check.

81 is only a 26mile strech though WV
its the quietest road at 1-2am , i can be heading either direction , and see nobody for 200miles, there are rest areas every 60ish miles through VA
go down 95 from DC to Richmond at the same time and its just like day time almost
