I have been out twice so far with 2 different instructors and they have both been patient and informative. Each lesson is for two hours and it is one on one instruction. Classes are 4 days a week, Monday through Thursday from 8am to 11am. I am slotted to take my road test next Wednesday, so from Tuesday until Tuesday of next week, I have a lesson (with the exception of Sunday) everyday. The Tuesday before my road test I will be in the truck for 4 hours. I filled out several applications and handed them off to Mike in the office last Friday. When I arrived at home that evening there was already a message from a recruiter. Right now, I give JTTT high marks for their professionalism both in the classroom and outside training in the trucks.

Old post, but figured I'd give my experience with JTT for anyone looking at this company.

The classes are standard lectures that were conducted by Jerry and Howie with a special guest appearance by Mark a few times. Largely the classes are just going over the information provided via flash drive including a DOT manual pdf and a few question/answer programs. The rest of the time is spent going over several long, boring videos (reminded me of drivers' ed in high school) that may or may not have been filmed in the '80s. The course material covered not only basic Class A information, but hazmat, tanker, and combination vehicle endorsements as well. The driving instruction is where JTT shines. I opted for a self-pay 5 lesson course and it cost about $1,250. The 5 lessons were 2 hours each and were 1-on-1. The course includes a road test with Dennis at the Wayne, NJ BMV. The more expensive courses come with free retests (if needed) and additional training (10 lessons, IIRC.) Courses also come with lifetime job placement assistance.

Passed written, endorsements, and driving test on first attempt with only 10 hours behind the wheel thanks to excellent training with Spider, Bob, and Antoine. These guys also work with WIA, if one qualifies for it. Only 1 complaint with these guys and that is the punctuality of the driving instruction classes. Several lessons ended 10-15 minutes early while a couple started late as well. Make sure you say something if you notice significant discrepancies, they add up.

PS One thing I should mention is by showing up to the classes, you might score an extra 45 minutes here and there if someone doesn't show up for their slot, but don't expect it. I got a free 45 minute lesson which I felt added up to the full time I paid for, so I'm satisfied with the value.

PPS The trucks and trailers are out in the parking lot after hours, very accessible if one were so inclined to go over outside pre-trip inspection practice on an actual truck, it helped.
