Short answer is YES you are legal to carry a firearm in a commercial motor vehicle as long as you are legally allowed to where you plan on travelling. Long answer will be found by searching thru all the other threads related to this topic.

as you will find out, if it is legal in the state in which you are traveling, and you have the correct permit, and your company DOES NOT prohibit possession of a firearm in the vehicle, then yes it is legal. there is no FMSCA code about drivers carrying firearms for protection.
the problem is like i said, the companies, and some places you go (government buildings, post office property and US military bases) will fry your 4$$ if you were to be caught with a concealed weapon.
that is the reason people think it is illegal to have a firearm in the truck. that is nothing more than a pile of steaming you know what. -
Florida's concealed carry(my state) is honored to some degree in 38 states, if I'm only dispatched in these states I would be fine as long as I abide by their rules, the problem would be if I got dispatched to lets say NJ, they do not honor our carry, or anyone's that I know of so then I would be illegal from the time I get there until I leave, also they require you to have the firearm and any ammo in separate lockable compartments in your vehicle, if you get caught I believe the fine is somewhere around $10,000 and of course they take your firearm.... in 35 years on the road I only once found myself in a situation where I needed a gun and that was when I tried to do a good deed! I was almost mugged but fortunately at the time I always had my pistol with me, legal or not, it saved me about $800 cash in my wallet plus a truck/trailer and about $200,000 worth of cargo...Needless to say I am more selective of doing good deeds....

a fine? try go to jail, weapon and truck impounded and you are charged with a felony. guns + northeast = jail. period. hollow point ammo = buried under the jail.
-
When you say northeast you mean NY and NJ.

I carry pepper spray. Pepper spray is legal and unlike mace, it will immediately incapacitate an assailant even if they are under the influence of drugs. I have carried it for years while on hiking trips or mountain biking to fend off animals. I've had close encounters with mountain lions several times and was glad I had it with me.

If you are just transporting a firearm and it is legally owned and all I don't see how it would be a felony, I lived in NJ for most of my life, still have family there and we all owned guns for all our adult life, traveling with a firearm is not illegal in NJ, NYC is a different story but jail is if you COMMIT a CRIME, owning a gun is not yet a crime... not yet....cetanediesel Thanks this. -
I carry A Glock, Knife & Fork. Have a Lead Tire beater at all times. Have a Permit for the Glock. The knife, is sharp, the fork it's true. Hits every piece of beef I aim it at. Canada never sees it. I'm from Texas, not Hell. You have 84 guns, We saw it on TV. Cool, Go Look.
Strange people. Fixated with guns. I like guitars.
