I prefer to be from Chicago than live there. Besides, I'd have to get my CDL A in IL before working for Roehl if I wanted to stay in IL. When I came back to IL for a little while after last summer season, and tried to transfer my Alaska CDL C to IL, they said I'd have to retake all written and driving tests again. IL is a special place lol...I'm guessing certain, now in jail, politicians have influenced that process. Also, I'm in my late 30s, no wife or kids...I can go anywhere I want, and closeby at the moment works for me.

I have lived in the Marshfield area for 25 years. I moved to Dallas just to get out of the area and find more opportunity. It is a farm based area. The Marshfield Clinic is the largest employer. There are several other large employers that Roehl is included in the area. Draw backs...very limited in social areas. Also finding what you need in at the local stores is limited. There is a Walmart but I have never been impressed with it. Two other grocery stores. A Menards and Fleet Farm for home/farm stuff. Wausau and Eau Claire are the two towns that have more variety. I got tired of the very limited resources in the area. If you are interested in the area, I have a house for sale in a town 22 miles to the NW of Marshfield. PM me if interested. Also winters, as you know being from Chicago, can be long and cold. Snowmobiling is popular in the area. Freight out of the Marshfield terminal has reduced over the years. The home terminal is not as busy as it was even 6 years ago. You would be better if you worked out of the Gary terminal for inbound/home bound loads. Central Wisconsin started dying about 15 years ago on manufacturing and it has impacted the trucking industry. Personally if you want to live and run for Roehl I would think more of being over in the Appleton area where Roehl has a nice terminal. More freight and better social and recreational opportunity.

Nighthawwk Thanks this. -
Land O'Lakes plant is in the next town to the NW in Spencer, WI. The might be a small warehouse in Marshfield but the big production plant is Spencer. If LOL were to leave Spencer that town would curl up and die. It is all that really holds Spencer on the map.

I would pick Appleton over Marshfield too.
goblue and jeepnut_nh Thank this. -
Yeah you're only a short drive away to a Packers game in Appleton too!
-
Yeah you can stand outside in the parking lot along with all the other people who didn't get tickets because they're never available!
-
Nah you just have to buy them from season holders. My in laws go to Packers games every season.
-
Oh yes they are. I don't have season tix but have been to 25+ games over the last 8 or 9 yrs including playoffs. Just have to know where to look.
-
Yeah, it's always the same story...have to know someone who knows someone, etc. Bleh.

I usually go to the Viking/Packer game every year. One year I go to Lambeau, the next I go to the dome. I usually get tickets from Craigslist or Stubhub.
technoroom Thanks this.
