I talked with Stephanie who works in HR on Friday to see if she had received the fax from my DR to get me cleared medically. She stated she had and that she hasn't looked at it yet that Friday's are hectic and if she doesn't get to it on Friday she will get to it on Monday. I said I understand hectic days and that it isn't a problem and that once she looks at it I will be looking forward to her call.
I had received a phone call from Stephanie in HR early Monday morning and she stated she looked over my letter and everything looked fantastic and at this point she will get me cleared medically to work. Informed me what to do on my DOT card as far as being diabetic and what medication I am on. After I hung up with her I sent my recruiter Courtney an email letting her know HR had cleared me and look forward to her phone call on what to expect next.
At the time all of this was happening I was visiting a friend of mine in Austintown, Oh that is being trained for Falcon. I was heading home to the Dayton, Oh area and passed a Maverick truck and thought I wonder when I would hear from them on things. Well I think Maverick can hear my thoughts because just as I thought that my phone rang and it was my recruiter Courtney. Not going to lie that actually kinda freaked me out! lol
Well Courtney told me that she talked to HR and they told her I was cleared and ready to go and wanted to know how soon I could start. I told her the earliest would be the 23rd. She said great because we don't have any TCD trainers available this week. Also wanted to know if I am dead set on TCD and I said I was. I don't have anything against the flatbed division. It's just I have been working in the elements for the last ten years and kinda want a break from that. Now to get back on track, Courtney said they go by a weekly basis and will call me Monday the 17th and let me know if they will have any trainers available to start the week of the 23rd. She also let me know since I have been approved a long time ago with Maverick that I was at the top of the list for the next available trainer. So right now I am just waiting on the call to head to NLR for orientation.

Good luck. Maverick seems like a really good company, and I've heard a lot of good things about them. They were one of my top choices, but I couldn't get over the fact that their trucks are automatics. No autos for me.
-
Thanks Harbinger! I don't mind the auto's. To tell the truth I'm actually really nervous! Maverick has always been at the very top of my list and everyone I have dealt with along the way has been very nice and professional. I absolutely think I've made the right choice by working for them. Really the timing couldn't have been better. I'm being riffed at my current job on the 15th. My mail route is being split up amongst the other routes in the office. I can't live on one day a week and they have known I will be leaving for some time. So I am taking the remainder of my leave and my last day with the postal service is the 14th. I have no issues with following rules and instructions and I'm sure I will pass the physical. I'm also sure I'll get through the orientation and training just fine and Maverick will offer me the job. So here's to what will hopefully be a long career ahead with Maverick.

I just spoke with the Maverick today and the recruiter said they are getting the paperwork processing rolling and I should hear from HR this week. I can't wait to start working!!! I signed up for the Glass division.

hawkeye, I can wait, I'm very patient when I need to be. Plus I do have the finances to at least wait four weeks. Might be able to wait for five weeks, but I am hoping I don't have to. Like I said since I have been pre-approved more than a month ago I am at the top of the list. I just had to get medically cleared first because I have been recently diagnosed with diabetes. I actually didn't even know I was diabetic until I took my DOT test for CDL school. I had absolutely no symptoms, but my sugar was rather high. I have learned to since control it though with diet, exercise, medication and supplements. Good to hear they are getting more trainers for the division! I am both nervous and excited to start! Thanks for the information!
