Frank, I'm still looking into getting my own elsewhere, I will give Candice a shout later this week to see where they are with truck availability too, just in case!!!

She told me Tropicana or NE, SE would be a later possibility too but not right off the bat...
    Good luck!!

    Frank Acavano Thanks this.

Hey guys I'm leased to Sunco, my trucks paid for... I run the SE fleet... I normall tell anyone that gets into a lease purchase that they are 100% crazy... 99.9% of them are a total rip off... How ever from what I've been told about the Sunco LP it's reall not that bad... They are just getting rid of the older land span trucks... I know I went through orientation with a guy who got an '07 Columbia for $288 a week and it was a one year deal... That $15,000.00 you can easily save for an in frame and still make money... I've done better over here than I've ever done...

Yes, something has changed there in the past few months, because you can no longer go directly onto the SE region, maybe it's full now, or whatever. That's a bummer...eh? Candice told me it would be six months on the Tropicana or I-95 division, then you can switch...

Sounds good...thanks. You were able to go directly onto the SE fleet, right? No longer apparently. I like that offer of an 2007 Freightliner for less than $300/week - If you get a halfway decent truck and can stick it out a year or so, then it's yours. Not bad...at that point, you can run it without payments, trade it in for a new one, using it as a down payment, or maybe even put someone else in it to run for you, if Sunco allowed that. Also Sunco doesn't charge a down payment for this truck - so one can get into a pretty decent company for nothing down...not bad eh?

LMB, how is that EGR/DPF system working for you on your Volvo? Any issues yet? What is the maintenance involved with those, please?

Well, I've been accepted at Sunco, I'm psyched! Candice said that I'm one of her "more qualified" applicants, if that means anything. She also said however that there are four recruiters there, among them the top applicants will qualify for the 13 trucks they're expecting soon. What a system...eh?

Also, she explained to me that the Tropicana fleet would pay $1.37/mile for all miles. The Northeast division would pay on a 70% basis. I'm guessing the latter is more lucrative, but since we're not comparing apples to apples here, it's hard to be sure. Normally dealing with the NE pays better. One or the other of these divisions will be required for new L/P people, for six months, then we would be free to switch to the SE, or some other division. People who lease their own trucks onto Sunco now would NOT be subject to this rule, I'm told. An incentive for those to purchase their trucks elsewhere, then bring them into Sunco. Problem is, buying a truck elsewhere means at least a $5000 down payment normally, plus extras. Sunco's L/P is either $0 D/P is you go the 2007 Freightliner, or $1500 for a 2009 Volvo. Much easier, the trucks are right there, and it's a straightforward lease. If you run hard you can make money here it seems... Candice said it could be 2 weeks or 2 months before the trucks are ready...just waiting for the final word...

Good luck with them, I'm pretty sure I'll be going somewhere else more local to me, well company is anyway... I found a 780 that I'm waiting to get a final number on and then off to check it out with mechanic. Looks like if everything goes well I'll be doing dry vans again and running my butt off to the left coast.

LMB, thanks for all the info and I hope you have continued good luck there, Frank, I hope you get everything set up and rolling soon!!! This company here is very small family deal and I had looked into them back 4 years ago but some other stuff came my way first but I ran into the owner the other day and we got to talking and bingo, he offered me a driving job or if I got a truck he'd put me in that way too.... Gonna be doing some runs for him next week while I get my other deal done or not, so I'll either stay a driver if truck falls through or get my own and just change seats!!!

Be safe all and I'll keep an eye out for you across I10/20!!!
