Just got the good to go call from the recruiter. Woo hoo!!
Due to a personal deal, can't start orientation before late July, but it sounds like the actual timing will be driven by trainer availability. (Apologies in advance to whoever draws the short straw.)
Still don't know whether it's glass or TCD, but either way I'm confident it will be a good ride with a great team. (I'm up to the challenge of stepping up my game to the Maverick Way.)
See y'all in NLR soon.

be ready for their d.o.t physical. they require lifting weights and carrying weights a distance. ( tarps ). up and down stairs, etc. 50lbs and up. cant blame them, if you are not able the flatbed, its best to find out early. good company though.
Ronin_on_MT and jxu417 Thank this. -
Thanks! I hear you and have seen the threads with descriptions of the securement and tarp exercises as well as the physical tests. The tests don't scare me, but I know that until I learn the smart way to wrangle tarps, lumber, and chains that they will take great pleasure in kicking my butt and draining the clock.

Uhhh.... YEAH THEY WILL! LOL

A little piece of advice for you:
You will eliminate approximately 95% of the stress of this job if you do one simple thing: shut the hell up and do as the company asks you.
It drives me crazy when I see drivers, especially new ones, complaining in truck stops and such, saying stuff like "They can't tell me what to do." Uhh, yes they can. If these drivers out here would quit being a bunch of divas and just do as they were asked, things would go a lot smoother.
I've been here 14 months, and only twice have I ever refused to do something. Both times, I refused to drive the truck, because both times it was unsafe to do so. Once I was sick, and once I was too tired (from sitting for 9 hours waiting to be unloaded, and they assumed I was sleeping. Nope.) And both times, as soon as I said it was unsafe for me to drive, they had someone on the way to repower the load inside an hour. I've never been argued with or questioned on it.
And I honestly think that I don't get trouble from my FM because 99% of the time I just do as they ask. I don't have to worry about getting griped at. I call or message my FM periodically and just ask him if there's anything I'm doing wrong or that I can improve upon. It makes everything much easier to realize right from the start that, despite what other drivers may try to tell you, you ARE an employee, and they CAN fire you if you refuse to do something that's not specifically protected under DOT laws.
And, on the plus side, if they tell me to do something that's screwy or doesn't make sense, I'll mention that it seems unusual to me, but still agree. That way, if things go wrong (and often they do), it's their fault

Woo Hoo #2! Finally cleared all of the distractions and now scheduled for orientation starting Sunday 25-Aug.

[Chant]
- Stay off the grass (However you might interpret it)
- 5 min. early is barely on-time.
- 110% gets a passing grade
- ST*U - Here to learn the Maverick way of doing things
- 10 mi. under on exit ramps and curves
Just kidding. (Kinda) --- Looking forward toward working my way onto the team.
