i dont think your trailer minds to much if you have cheap freight on it over the week end. sometimes it will help you into a better load, just dont make a habit of pulling it all the time. i always tried to load into a load on the other end. example chicago to denver always has a good rate but when get to denver not a great place to load out of. but if you went to omaha for less money good rates out of omaha, with any type of trl.

back when i hauled regular freight, the last two years I decided to not take (cheap freight).did more deadheading but at end of year cleared more money. ie less wear and tear on truck, tires engine and body! cant convince me a cheap load here and there is ok, it isn't period!

I don't mind hauling cheap freight(not very often and never over 30 000lbs) if Im going into good area.I took good paying load out of Memphis to Marshall,mn,and was hoping for some decent reload to ga,tn,fl,sc,nc ms,but there was nothing.I wanted miles over weekend.I had few options: cheap load to sd,cheap load to ne,cheap load to tx,cheap load to mt,wait in mn until monday,or to drive 370 miles empty to Chicago. If i decided to stay,my truck would idle for 3 days or I would go to motel for 3 days, and I still would be in bad area on monday. This way I spent maybe 250-300$ for fuel, but Im home at least and my truck wasn't tortured with 45000 lbs of beans out of sd.

This is how a random joe schmoe would accept this load. He sees 577 miles at 1 dollar a mile is $577!!!!! Sooo exciting! He can get from NJ to OH in one day!! 577$ a day is awesome! Oh wait the average joe schmoe forgot his truck runs on diesel which is almost 4$ a gallon. Good job joe schmoe ya jack wagon fruitcake

People need to understand if you are hauling freight for fuel..you are also messing up rates and messing up your truck in the process. Even though you get nothing in return. STOP!

There will always be cheap freight because somebody always wants to go home or somebody is stuck in a dead area and will pull anything to get to better lanes.

I totally understand this, apparently either joe schmoe doesnt understand, or he doesnt care. Either way its making the rates the way they are. Leaves me broken hearted
