Ive always wanted to become a trucker but never made the leap. I am currently in the military now and I am planning on getting out because of all the bs that comes with the job. I also currently work 12 hours a day and will be on deployment in 5 months for 6 months. I have already had one deployment and we made it through that just fine. My wifes father is a trucker and has been driving for the past 30+ years. She doesnt want me to be a trucker because of the time I would be away, and the hardship for the first year. She doesnt work right now, because we have a year and a half old son. I know its paramount to have your spouse on board before you take the leap. Any advice?? Thanks!!

You already know about hardships, thank you for your service. But if your tired the of the bs don't drive truck, this industry is full of it,if it's your dream to drive truck then follow it,I still love what I do,but being home would be awsome.it is important to have the support I wish you the best of luck

    Happy fathers day.

    This is easy:

    1) Start drinking a 12pack to a case of beer every night.

    2) State, that if you want my drunk #### out... I'll just be a trucker.

    3) Get CDL

    4) Sign divorce papers

    5) become a trucker and live the dream

Dont do it..You sound young too, just assuming. Deployments and time away destroys young military families especially those with kids. If you guys live close to your wife's family then it probably wont be too bad. But if you uprooted her from home and moved her to a scum military town it is really tough. Saw it way too many times during my time in the marines. Or atleast get out and spend some time with the wife and kid. Pull unemployment if you have to. Go to school for underwater basket weaving and use the gi bill. It pays..Trucking will always be around, and you'll leave the military bs and enter the trucking bs. Only thing is here you can quit.

If momma ain't happy, ain't NOBODY going to be happy. You probably will not change her mind, if she is from a trucking family.Nice of you to consider her feelings, but...........
