I have no problem with any driver idling for comfort sake. However, not when the temperature is nice. I believe Sarge said it, some people don't shut off their engine until they arrive back at home for their home time.

OK then. After I got unloaded in downtown Chicago, LSI Steel, I sent my empty and got a w/a to head to DeWitt, Ia for a load of glass. Easy drive there. When I got there, I wasn't aware that I was gonna swap trailers. My w/a didn't say anything about that. Any who, got rid of my flatbed and swapped it for a loaded step deck. Cool! The loads going 400ish miles away to Manhattan, Ks. However, it doesn't deliver till Monday at 0800. So much for miles per day. So here I sit, right above Kansas city. I've done my laundry, and will leave out tomorrow to head to consignee. I will stay there tomorrow night, and empty 1st thing Monday.
I wonder where I will go from there?? -
OK then. I'm sitting in front of the gate at the consignee. Easy drive. Very strong head winds. Had to keep a good grip on the steering wheel. Arrived around 1500 local. As luck would have it, there's a super Walmart right across the street. So I walked over there and bought some groceries. Been a beautiful, but windy day. I was gonna grill out , but thought it was to windy. Charcoal doesn't do well in strong winds. Anyhow, guys be safe. Stay in the "right" lane.
Kutina Thanks this. -
OK then. Time to update/vent.
I arrived Sunday at 1500ish to my consignee, for a 0800 Monday appointment. Right before I go to the sleeper, another Maverick glass pulls in behind me. I don't think much of it. Next morning 0600 my alarm goes off. First thing I do is check to see if gate is open, and it is. So I put on my coveralls, start the engine, and open my curtains. Me being ocd that I am, Ialways open the right curtain, then ththe left. As I'm opening the left, ole Rodney comes roaring around me, wiping sleep from his eyes, and gets inside the gate and takes the only dock. Of course I go and confront this. Burgundy basta#d!! Well, he's already in the hole and I don't wanna make a scene at a customer location. So I send a free form with his truck number to my FM. Anyhow, get my next load, a preload out ta spring hill, Kansas city area, heading to Hebron Ohio. While swapping the trailer, this trailer is alllll frigged up. So I send another macro. Long story short, tell me to go straight to Madison yard for repairs. I arrived at 1230 and check in. With the shop. At 2130, they pull me into the shop. At 0115, they pull it out and i head off to bed. Get ip this morn at 0600, get cleaned up and drive longer than i have in weeks to where im sitting now. Why me???
So, the moral of the story is, its not just flatbedders that leave a mess for someone else to clean up. The Maverick way?? Really? -
one question why would anyone want to stop that that truck stop. Just so I can do a 7 mile climb from a dead stop in the morning ?

welcome to the maverick trailer repair team.Blind Dog Thanks this.

Climbing up out of Butler is FUN! Isn't it?? LOL!! I do it at least twice a week. Sucks!!

I use ropes and bungees. I like my tarps tight. No ballooning here. For the record, I've never heard that we weren't supposed to use bungees on glass loads. Guess that was a surprise to my FM in Laurinburg who was watching me bungee up a few weeks ago. Lol
-
I guess it was a surprise. The info Little Rock is putting out is, no bungees on a glass load. I have no problem with bungees, I just prefer to do things the way that Maverick wants it done. I'm not starting anything, I'm just saying.

My original place to land for the night was the welcome center at the Va/NC line. However, when I got there, it was closed. Being short on time, I took the very next place. I try to have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place picked out to park. Key word is try. I'm always willing, and happy, to listen to any advice or words of wisdom from you though.sewerman Thanks this.
