Rob, I never said cutting training was achieving better results. Somebody else said that. I don't have any figures to back that up.
If we are the same size then aren't you a Mega as well, lol????

I guess we would be if we had a van division with how many trucks? I never said you did. I seriously doubt the trainers are on board with it. There are an awful lot of coincidences lining up though don't you think?

Let me tell you something you may not know. From January to about April of this year the Houston terminal had about 5 guys come through there as students. That means for all of Texas we hired about 5 guys in four months. The reason the hiring frenzy is on right now is because according to management we are turning down freight and we are getting more new business, better paying business.
The last class in Coraopolis had 21 guys in it. Only 9 made it to a trainer truck. We can be picky too.
I too have heard customers complain about other companies. Ask Nalco what they think of Groendyke or Quality. Never heard a bad word about Superior. Now does this mean those two companies are terrible, of course not it means nothing which is why you shouldn't count it as evidence of a companies quality.
I really don't want to defend Schneider but at the same time I don't want bad info out there. I don't do this for Schneider, I do this for the next confused guy who gets on Google. I have a good job, I have been treated great. -
Well actually yeah I am on bored with it and the training regimen hasn't changed in at least a year. There is no pressure from the top for me to get students off my truck. Again, no conspiracy here. Things are as they have been for a while now. Trainers don't sign off on someone till there ready, case closed.

Just saying he seemed ready after 3 days OTR and his trainer was awesome but I promise he wasn't even close to being ready. There should be some kind of law saying 2 weeks at least of required OTR training would be a good thing for everyone. I know Averitt guarantees their trainers $1500 a week and Im just guessing thats quite costly to a company so they cut corners even if it makes everyone unsafe and that just shouldn't ever happen! But it is. Young kids are not just going to say to thier trainers Oh no I want more traininig I can't do this please help me LOL mainly because company isn't nice about it at all.

Well somebody had to say it, lol.Last edited by a moderator: Jun 20, 2013
ricecakeftw and HotH2o Thank this. -
Im calmer now as a mom ya kinda freak but hes Still Truckin on- so far so good -he just cant park at truck stops cuz he cant back that well and says if he wrecks they will fire him. I didn't know I was spamming, Im new to forums and how it works, just really now when I see the orange pumkin coming Im a lil nervous I know its possible its 3 days total behind that wheel and to me that shouldn't ever happen. Btw whats the cheapest best way to get internet for your laptop in your truck?
bullhaulerswife Thanks this. -
I just use my smartphone and a data plan. Most truckstops have wifi. You just have to pay for it. Its not that much. Tell your son to plan for stopping earlier if he has trouble backing. Everyone sucks at backing at first, he will get better. Tell him to tell his DBL to put him back in training if he is still struggling, its not too late.

wow schneider threw him (my son)out there for .28 a mile lol and he starts very early ends very late! If he sticks it much longer Ill be shocked from the start ya wouldnt believe the whole story of what hes been through from the start of getting hired hes got to write a book cuz its been totally crazy! Superior= thats tankers though right? whew that would definatly need more than 3 days OTR training for sure!

Most new guys run like sheep to the slaughter to starter companies then quit within 6 months . There are very few openings in better carriers for new guys because those carriers know CDL mills never fail anybody and turn out a bunch of misfits . Starter carriers accept misfits to run for substandard wages .
