I heard a couple on Sirius last week. They even mentioned pay saying 75K per year. This seems like a change in policy. I thought they had huge waiting lists for drivers. Why waste money running adds if that is true?

Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds
Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.

What locations, that might be the issue?

The ad directed you to the website. If they wanted specific areas why use satellite radio that reaches the entire US and Canada.

I highly doubt that Walmart has a waiting list of any size. I interviewed with them and turned down the second interview. From what I gathered you probably would not even get your own truck for 2-3 years and until that that time you would just work as an oncall fill in. Sounded to me like you dont get on any waiting lists until you are officially hired.Last edited: Jun 21, 2013

That sounds sort of like LTL companies and an extra board. I wonder how much money you make waiting for a spot

It depends on the area you apply to. I just started in out of sealy tx and was hired as an extra. I am a full time driver and I will make as much as a full time driver with an assigned truck or on a program.

I have my own truck in less then 9 months dont believe all you here. They are advertising because they cant find qualified drivers. The ones they find fail out through the interview or road test or the ones that make it through that part get disqualified through back ground checks. they have tons of applicants just not ones that meet the standards or pass the background.
if you turned down the second interview you didnt get a job offer or the detailed info. And did not go through their background check.Blindmman, jbee, Extreme4x4 and 2 others Thank this. -
I work a 5-2 and have since I was hired. I don't care if I have to slip seat until I get my own truck. Most DC's are trying hard to minimize that as much as possible, and it shows.
You got some bad information.Blindmman Thanks this. -
Turned down the job? In other words they found something in your background and turned YOU down? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but they discuss all the stuff you 'turned it down' for during the FIRST interview, so you should have already known about all that. If you really did turn it down, you really screwed yourself. You've heard the saying, 'good things come to those who wait'...? Well, Walmart is different. At Walmart...good things come to those who say YES, and BETTER things come to those who wait! I really couldn't see turning down this job cuz I couldn't have my own truck right away...

I have seen it on another forum.
Have to slip seat................ can't sleep in own bed every night.................... believe what others tell about the compensation package....................
Whatever the reason might be, I look at that, shake my head, and go "Wow!!! You have no idea what you just turned down."
I especially get a kick out of those who say they made it to the "offer," yet give all the wrong information on the compensation.Blindmman and grabberblue12 Thank this.
