Whats the o/o deal you can try for after 6 months? Is it like a lease purchase or a real buy your own truck and they help ya type deal?

Greatwide at least lets you pick out your own truck from a dealer, new or used. They don't care what kind of tractor it is.

Im not for sure.. thats what im asking. What exactly is our program to become a owner op here at interstate? Ive seen a 386, 379, 387 petes, a few prostars and a volvo that all had thier own business names on the side. So im curious how does interstate help? Do they finance the truck.. do I have too?

Depends on the way you want to do it if they help that would be lease purchase if you do it on your own then you are a true o/o and you are on your own you can lease on to a company such as interstate difference between the two would be the company has interest in the lease purchase and doesn't if you are a leased on o/o......I think I said that right

Yup if you buy/finance someplace other than the company you drive for, you can take your bat and glove and go play for somebody else.

Don't think the others understand why, or what exactly you're asking lol I think we all get the whole idea of leasing a truck on your own or with a company and being stuck to the company if you go thru them but the OP is asking specifically about IDC's program. Snowwy says no such thing exists, HOWEVER, they mentioned such a program during the conference call a few weeks ago. I was going to ask about it as well, as they said they were making a change to their program to help people become owner ops, which would mean that there is one established already but besides that mention of it in the conference call, I haven't heard anything about it.

as far as seeing the other trucks with their own business names on them, Interstate hires O/O's so you're gonna see them all over the place. I tend to see them more around chicago area. Unless you're talking about an actual interstate truck that also has a name on the side then I have no clue

Nope, just plain jane trucks that have a small buisness name such as for example "123 joe trucking chicago il". Lol, thats why I asked in here. During orientation richard said theres a owner op program in place after 6 months. So I guess its not a lease purchase but more of a "well help ya locate purchase and come aboard as a o/o" type deal.

I was pretty curious if it was a lease purchase or what. Once again, thanks blue.

it seems as far as all these special little programs they have they don't really make them well known to the employees which I find kinda weird. No where in the terminals, or in lebanon anyway i havent been to tacoma and i most likely never will, but theres no information anywhere just around that mentions all our fleets... the dedicated lanes we have, how to get onto them, this 6 month thing you mentioned about helping someone find a truck, these other hometime option fleets of 6 on and 4 off or whatever is it. I wish they would have at least some basic info on this stuff somewhere so that if a driver was interested we could find out without having to go thru 10 people before finding out. I know the whole deal with the KC fleet not having a dedicated FM doesn't make things easier, I pretty much stopped asking any questions because most the time I never get a reply, i just stick to my required macros for picking up and dropping off.

Yeah, a lot of stuff is a huge mystery. We really need to get a dedicated fm and planner. I went to my truck today and found a load assigned to me.. a full day after I del tomorrow.. going to arizona for friday.. hmm.. thats pretty far from my house. So ill have to have frank remove it off me. Hopefully. I signed on to run a few states and be home on weekends. If I wanted otr work.. I would be otr. Either way.. lots of mystery about things we should have full access too here.
