Left a good job with a US Mail Contractor to go back on the road to team with a good friend. Took only 5 weeks, two incidents (he hit a yellow pole with a brand new trailer pulling into a shipper and slamming on the brakes so hard as to bring me out of my bunk to avoid a rear end collision) to say no more.

Went solo with that company because a truck became available. But because of their rapid expansion and low rates, they ended up downsizing. I was given the option to team once more with my friend, or find another job.

You would think I had learned the first time and said NO... right?

You guessed it. Teamed back up with him, figuring he might of learned a few things. NOPE... After the exact same amount of time, just 5 weeks, we had 2 near collisions in 24 hours. Both times he came up on someone, didn't have an "out" and instead of slowing down, tried to speed up to change lanes. Then SLAMMED on the brakes to avoid the hit. Yep, out of the bunk again.

I called a friend to pick me up on our way to our delivery. Made sure we didn't have a pre-plan requiring a team. Made sure he could make the delivery time after my driving shift. My ride came 10 hours to meet me at a truck stop, and I unloaded right there. Had already called the company and said I'd rather quit then die.

They actually thanked me for my consideration in making sure this load would be delivered, we were not under any other dispatch, and calling prior to walking off the truck.

Never, and I mean NEVER again!

TEAM driving is the worst ripoff iin trucking. Think about it. The companies make more money because they get the freight there twice as fast, yet, they only pay one driver and you two split it. ripoff.

I got lucky. Teamed with my best friend and had a blast on the road together. I was sad when I left the truck for a new job.

I have never teamed but one time i ate one of them "the bomb" burritos at the gas station and had to kick myself out of the truck for a while.
