Log Book Violation Help???

im assuming the log wasnt updated to sleeper and thats the cause

Unless it automatically somehow updates you to sleeper status Elogs can have same problem.

as far as I know you have to be within the last 3 hours
you also have a right to request afew minutes to get your papers in order before presenting them but you must "request" it -
no only automatic mine does is changing to on duty not driving when i come to a stop and switch to driving when I get over like 5mph
but I just click a bubble and it updates my logs so its easier than getting out your pen and log book and drawing your lines then having to calculate and update everything. -
Yes it's easier I have Elogs too, my point was it can happen. Elogs are not end all be all. I'd much rather be back on paper, less stressful with no clock counting down in your face, and no worrying about having to change status at a guard shack and forgetting to change back, blah, blah, blah...

Where's the reg stating such a "request" is valid? -
oh I agree, there are times where I park and run into a truck stop for something and forget to throw myself off duty, of course later I can go back and edit it
I prefer the e-log, I used the paper but like electronic better since its faster, I dont mind the clock counting down since it helps me keep on track of when I need to shut it down or start looking for a place to park. -
if you didnt log as in sleeper berth IE off duty and draw a line into it than its a violation if it was that way and they asked your co-driver for your log book without waking you and you were logged in as off duty than it shouldnt be a violation. you are supposed to keep your log book up to date and if your sleeping you cant draw lines in your sleep. but maybe they expect you to draw a line for 8-10 hrs as off duty i was never told to do this but i have never driving teams aside from when i was with my trainer in 06 even then i didnt do that but i did go ahead a few hours as i knew i wasnt going to be changing duty status.

Try spending some time actually reading your little green book that was issued to you from your employers.
If you started driving 5 hours ago, then when you started driving 5 hours ago.
If you went to the sleeper 8 hours ago, then when you went to sleeper.
There is no "request" that has to be made at all. If an officer does not allow you to bring your logs current, then he is just as wrong as you are for not being current.
