Hi Ms. Green. I wanted to take some time, now that I have a spare moment, to thank you for your interest in me as a driver. Just wanted to let you know that I've got a good fit for company now. I work for a small outfit 2 miles from where I live. I'm getting great miles, great treatment, decent benefits and decent pay. I see the west coast all the time, and I see my home a lot. I typically turn Lacrosse, Wi to the west coast and back in 6-7 days, and then spend 3-4 days at home, wash, rinse, repeat. So, to be honest, the only reason I'd walk away from this deal is to drive for Wal-Mart. I put my application in there 2 days ago. After all the times I've been hosed by large companies with promises of "stability", I've come to the conclusion that stability translates to rotten paychecks, expensive benefits that don't cover anything, waffling and excuses for the lack of miles and home time, and poor general treatment. While I'm not saying that Gordon treats their drivers in these ways, I'm sure you'll understand why I'm skeptical and loath to walk away from a sure thing for a roll of the dice... Again, thank you for your interest.
In fairness to Gordon, I don't see their name mentioned on the "bad" list much, and when I do, after alittle digging and poking, you find that the driver caused most of his own grief. MOST of the time.
I sent this reply to a recruiter's email

Not too shabby. Only thing I'd have done different; I would have built paragraphs to create spaces, and made it easier to read.
starvintrucker Thanks this. -
you would only quit to drive for Wal-wart ?? there are many better paying driving jobs than wally, and you wouldnt have to live in the truck...
-
Starvintrucker does your company hire new drivers or experienced only? Are you solo or a team? I'm in Southern WI. That home time sounds good.

The recruiter probably stopped reading when they figured out you weren't interested. They got trucks to fill.
jomar68, CondoCruiser and sevenmph Thank this. -
Actually, all that work writing it and a waste of time. She possibly scanned the first few sentences and deleted it. All that why? Whether or not you like what a recruiter tells you or think she lied to you. She is doing her job, as forced upon her by the company. Right or wrong. Like you she does what she needs to to keep her job and provide for her family. You wasted your time sending it to her, why not the company instead?
CondoCruiser and jomar68 Thank this. -
I am going to be moving to Lacrosse mid July. I would love dedicated runs to the west coast. Where is this dream job?

Thats great that things are going well for you. The tide does turn in trucking with experience. You will find yourself in the drivers seat if you work hard and keep your nose clean. Even all you new guys slaving away for the first year to get experience, thats what it typically takes to get somewhere in this field!! But it will come.

I am still trying to figure why he got the recruiter email in the first place if he was not looking for a job.
drvrtech77, Kusanagi, d o g and 4 others Thank this. -
When flatbed was booming at Roehl I had a La Crosse guy that wasn't dedicated, but after his 30th trip to Seattle he asked me to find him something other than LaCrosse to Seattle, and I forget where in Oregon to Wisconsin.
