Our edit was recently taken away, so not so easy to do now.
Im also wondering if OP signed log making it official? I never sign my paper ones until that 24 hr period is done and I make sure it's accurate. Sorry if this was asked before, may have missed it.

they havent removed our edits yet but we must provide a reason in the edit, I usually just state I forgot to put into off duty for a break, they can look to see the truck was parked and valid.
-
If his line was drawn to sleeper, even if it was the day before and the ticket was given after midnight, the line does not have to be connected to the current hour, because you obviously cant draw a log line while you're sleeping...
I imagine he was still showing his status as off duty....scottied67 Thanks this. -
Shouldve lied and said you were a friend along for the ride and you don't carry a log book cause your not a driver.
-
yeah but his co driver could of easily said "oh my co is sleeping in the back" and not thinking friends
-
He should have logged on duty between the time he came out of the sleeper and handed the officer the book . Talking to an LEO is no longer sleeper berth .
scottied67 Thanks this. -
sometimes waking up your mind isnt all clear though
I wake up and just sit around for a few minutes before I ever start my pre trip and go on my way since if I start driving right away my alertness is effected -
How about when teams cross the border. -
If i log sleeper before midnight and a officer wakes me up at 5 am from the sleeper should i get a ticket because my log was over 3 hours since last update? what if you request and it is denied? Lawyer time i guess. -
I never heard any of that, it seems you need to review your green book a bit more. 3 hours?
Many enforcement officers will ask for your log right away to prevent you from changing things and this is not something you need to "request" them to wait, they will ticket you for it. IF you have to take a few minutes out to get your paper work organize, just maybe you need to find another job.
No NO NO!
You guys are missing it, if you log sleeper at say 9pm and you go into the sleeper, then you get up say at 6am, you get to carry over that log entry form the previous day until the time that you change your status - hence no ticket.
I am thinking that the OP didn't change their log at the time of changing their status and they got caught, it isn't brain surgery but simple - take a minute and change your log status.FTB530 Thanks this.
