I see students everyday from transam cant drive
back them into coke in auburndale because the large curbs are too much for them
park on the scale because they are ignorant
the whole place is a sham
my first trainer was an O/O that wouldn't even fix his power steering
Transam isn't bad if you can survive trainers

    kirk and bwaync Thank this.

I never said Transam is a bad company though. Depending on the situation, Transam could be a good company to work for or a bad. It could be the driver that don't know what he or she is doing. It could be the dispatcher that don't know what he or she is doing. Everybody got a different story good or bad & Transam is not the only company like that.

Auburndale is easy. Let them try Coke (Dallas Syrup Plant) that's where things can get interesting, especially in the middle of the night. Very good comments Pete!!

Our experience with trainers was the worst of the worst and the best of the best. When husband started with TransAm you were out with a trainer much longer. His first trainer was patronizing, abusive, dirty and nasty. There was no company gps and everyone was still on paper logs. The trainer had his own gps but refused to turn it on when husband was driving...so one of husband's first experiences was learning to drive old school in down town New York City in the middle of the afternoon. He would make husband redo his log sheets over and over even when there was nothing wrong with them. He was verbally abusive and disgustingly filthy. Husband was determined to just live through it. Then lo and behold, the trainer had parked the truck at a truckstop one night and the front end got smashed by a student driver from another company ....Divine Providence? Since husband didn't have enough hours of driving in yet he was sent out with another trainer. The new trainer was a true blessing and taught him so much. Worked with him on backing skills, taught him life skills while he was on the road ....the best of the best. It took a long time for husband to realize that having the experience of two trainers was a good thing. At the time he would have told you that he learned nothing from the first man ....now he will tell you that he honed his logging and map reading skills..... and that he learned what not to do. Sometimes that is as important as learning what to do. He even learned which parking spaces to avoid at the truckstops! :biggrin_25525: There are many horror stories on here about trainers ...and most of them are unfortunately true. Living in a truck with a stranger 24/7 isn't something that most people want to do. There are good trainers and there are terrible trainers, just hang in there, do your best to learn something from the experience and remember what your goal is. If you have questions get on here and ask, there are a lot of good people here that will share their experience with you....and if you feel the need get on here and rant ....everyone needs to blow off a little steam every once in awhile.:yes2557:

C'mon now, I hope Transam's training isn't all that bad! :biggrin_2556: Newbie trucker here is getting a bit concerned! I know just enough to know how much I DON'T know, which is just about everything. Well, hey, I survived the 30 hour bus ride to get to Rockwall, so I think my chances are decent for surviving whatever training I get, good or bad.

I'm curious, johnnyblaze, is it your mission to hang out on a board (that concerns a company you don't work for) just to bad mouth or try to scare people away? If not, what is the purpose of your comments?

Sorry, bwaync, we don't mean to have you worrying. You will do fine. Take it as it comes and try to learn from it all. I am not a driver ....just a driver's wife ... and I am sure the drivers will correct me if I am wrong :biggrin_2559: but I think three of the most important skills that you can develop are 1. Always assume that the other drivers that you share the highway with are going to do the worst possible thing that they can do. 2. Work on your backing skills. 3. As kirk said before, don't get rattled if you miss your exit or make some other mistake, go to plan B, take your time, safely pull over and regroup if you have to.

Pete, how are the truck repairs coming along?

    kirk Thanks this.

Glad it was something minor ....but sorry it took two days to get you rolling again. Husband will be up that way in the morning. How's the weather? I keep seeing weather reports for some severe storms and wind in that part of the country.
