Been here since last September, and only freight I've touched was a HON load, and that was mainly just helping count, because it was floor loaded, multiple stops. I drive van.

    BDJ Thanks this.

20 months never touched freight like unloading myself. They pay for lumpers. You can do it yourself and be paid for it but after you unload it yourself you have to break down each pallet. That's where it lost me. I've worked for ups and FedEx unloading is gravy a good work out. I don't want to break it down though into separate pallets. I've done HON as well but it was to make it go faster unloading process and I'd have to unhook if I stayed in the truck

This is what I have been told:

Flatbed starting pay is .35 cpm, .37 cpm after 90 days and .39 cpm after 180 days.

Regional, I can't quite remember what that pays but its less than what national van pays.

National Van/Reefer (which is what I am going for) starts at .32 cpm, .34 cpm after 90 days and .36 cpm after 180 days. You can earn up to .04 cpm in a year bonus based upon performance and those bonuses can be earned quarterly. HazMat loads pay .01 cpm more. 70% of the loads are drop and hook and 90% no touch freight. Orientation pay they said is $600 and you will be paid $90 a day when you are out with a trainer. Your CPM start when you get your truck issued to you. Again, this is just what I have been told by the recruiter Terry that comes to our school.

I am looking to go with Roehl and do the 7/7 reefer. Does anyone have experience with that and would you recommend reefer over dry van doing the 7/7? Thanks in advance.

Regional pays more cpm then national. I've been with Roehl for about 3 months just switched to Allentown regional and it's a big jump in cpm. Just less miles of course.

Like I said, that was just info that we are told. I know not to believe everything a recruiter says but Texas regional might be less than Allentown and thats the region the recruiter was stressing on since Shreveport, LA is right on the Texas state line. And then again the recruiter is laying out what the average pay is and by his numbers, flatbed paid the best, national van second and regional third. And I guess it really depends on how much home time you want. I know 7/7 ain't going to cut it. You want the money, gotta stay out on the road.
