lol, you guys are correct. we take the best ones. whats left hits the broker board. yep we tend to bypass the 1.50 a mile loads.
bill, landstar agents actually make more money for themselves if they broker a load than if it goes on a bco. same way also with uacl( am-can, mason-dixon, great american) and the exact reason i left mason-dixon.
mercer loads arent doled out by agents to lease guys either, they all go thru louisville . we got a system to where first guy unloaded gets first choice, rather than a system where the first guy that sees it on the loadboard can get it.
i like their system

LS doesn't have agents. They are all brokers.
And yeah, I make more, broker makes more and LS makes more. BCO is the one that is hurt.
But don't get me wrong, a BCO pulling a flat can still do well at LS (Van guys are getting killed). -
We actually told Mercer to take us out of their system. I hauled two seperate loads on one trailer for them almost two years ago. Only good paying load I ever got from them cause they were in a bind. Now they always call on our truck postings with their cheap stuff.

It seems as if ls and mercier are the top to fb companies so is fikes bennet that bad it just no one on here to speak up for them just curious and I don't have a choice at my company since we drop a lot and use ether companies trailers but I prefer a step add well

This may be a gimme to some people, but make sure whatever equipment you decide on, if it is a spread, have a dump valve. I didn't realize how valuable they can be, until I started here where I don't have them. They save so much in wear and tear, etc and turning, both going forward and reverse is easier.

well, it they broker freight under the landstar name, they are acting as an agent of landstar.
basically same difference, they are still affliated with landstar.
heck some are in the same office and are agents/brokers for several companies, -
I have bought a lot of tarps at tri-city there in ill. and never had a problem, all their equipment is good quality and fair priced...

B.S. !!!!!!! When I was with Landstar, I ordered LIGHTWEIGHT TARPS, what I got were a set of tarps weighing 100 pounds apiece!!!!! NOT "EXACTLY" the way I ordered them. When I talked to, I believe his name was Steve, He told me those WERE the lightweight tarps, that he did not deal with lighter materials. So, He got $900.00 if ny hard-earned money screwed the pooch, and did not apologize or make it right..and this guy professes to be a christian? I will never again buy ANYTHING from those bozo's!!!! Tarps4less, US Cargo Control, there are numerous places to buy from, and not get ripped off! GOOD LUCK!!!!!
-
Side note: don't buy straps from Cargo Equipment Corp.
I bought a 10-pack of 4"x30' straps from them a month ago--5 of them are now unserviceable due to extreme fraying and splitting. I'm not very happy.
