Couple random questions about some Schneider stuff...

Does anyone know how many holes you can legally slide the tandems on the TA13XXXX, 1TA4XXXX etc. Hyundai trailers back? I know most of them are marked with the stickers on the side, but on some the stickers have fallen off, etc.

Also, another about reporting defects - when you do a post trip and mark a defect on a trailer, does SEM get notified that there is a problem, or is the post trip purely for the report that the next driver gets messaged when they go to pick up the trailer? Or do you still need to call/message SEM? Curious after reading about 91B20H8's post about having to deal with picking up trailers with problems in the chatroom...

Anyone else have trouble getting the fuel nozzle to stay put in the Cascadia tanks, especially the drivers side? Never had trouble with my Century, but this Cascadia can be a real pain... the nozzle only seems to hold when its inserted ALL the way, and the splash-back from the strainer in the tank cuts it off because the nozzle thinks the tank is full of fuel. Sometimes I have to sit there and babysit the nozzle and fill each tank individually.

I've seen a gray Kenworth (looks like some kind of a variant of the T600? Not sure of the exact model) with the Schneider logo and highway on it... definitely a company truck. Looked almost brand new. Whats the deal with these?

Uhhh that's all I can think of for now... Surely more to come.

As far as I can tell on the post trip you have to submit, its only to satisfy DOT, you have to also send one in under messaging for SEM to do anything about it.
Try putting the nozzle in to your tank with the handle parallel instead of perpindicular

that's one thing that I would like to see changed. When you PU a trailer and have it assigned , they send the equipment status message and last dvir. It would be nice to have it list WHAT the pending defects are, even if the last driver hit the no defects. perhaps a driver further back did the right thing on their dvir.

And maybe this is a dumb question, but I am not a Schneider driver yet, but do the different tractor colors mean anything? I have seen black, white, silver and of coarse the orange pumpkin

They should all be orange in this drivers opinion. The only different colored trucks should be for the million milers, and they should get another truck, like a Coronado or something.

Never seen a black one, like bet its hot in summer though, notice how im just being nice now huh? I got in trouble for whineing lol Im still here though, but question in west with the newbies the heat is gunna be dangerous tomorrw like over 100, what is the best way to keep cool when you can't idle? and air in the older stuff doesn't work much?

You can idle above 70 degrees and below 20 degrees. I made much better time than planned yesterday, so I took a longer break so I won't arrive too early and mess up my ETA to final delivery on this load. Just idled for 12 hours straight and slept like an absolute baby. When it gets cold the trucks have a diesel fired bunk heater that works OK in the older trucks and will absolutely roast you in the newer trucks.

Really the only time it can get uncomfortable is at some shippers/receivers that won't let you idle at the docks, and we don't have APUs so its impossible to keep it cool then. Just gotta get out of the truck then. Some trucks have an EPU that is a battery-powered APU that will provide enough power to run AC for about 10 hours.

Winter was a little uncomfortable in my old truck. With this new one, I'm sure it'd be much better. Summer has been fine in both trucks. Hopefully by the time winter rolls around I'll be on Choice and will have a truck with an APU. That's my plan anyway...

For the Hyundai trailers look at page 136 in the permit book - it lists the hole settings for pre 2011 wabashs, post 2011 wahbash, and Hyundai.

The DVIR in Workflow only goes to Regulatory - not SEM. In theory if you send in a Mac 10, 11, or 12 its supposed to be entered into the M5 (maintence) computer program. What a wonderfully designed system, nothing makes me happier than filling out the same form twice. The reality is that if you only send in the Macro your kids will be debating which nursing home to put you in before SEM sends someone to fix it. In my experience if I want something from SEM I have to call it in.

The Green Bay Division got 40 KW T680s starting about 2 months ago. It appears a different division got some white KW T700s. It's something we're trying out and the rumor is GB just ordered 30 more T680s. If the fuel economy is what KW is promising (8-9 mpg fully loaded) SNI is probably going to be moving to KW in a big way. From what I hear they're only costing SNI $5-6,000 more than the Casscasdias. If that and the fuel savings are accurate we'll make up the difference in cost in under a year. Plus I hear that the ride is so smooth you could bake a souffle while going down Mt. Eagle (if you had an inverter).
