3RD DAY on the job, My trailer hits the back of a parked pickup

My advice would be to forget about it, get ready to accept the repercussions, and move on and never let yourself get into a congested parking area with your truck, even if it means holding up traffic.

 

You were hired as a driver. You and you alone are responsible for the safe maneuvering of your vehicle. I will never agree with you that it is the company who is to blame. Yes it was a totally preventable accident caused by the driver. What was the point of you sharing your woes me story, sympathy? I might have had some sympathy for you if you had the balls to admit you screwed up. All I see here is a child crying for mommy because its not fair. Would you still blame the company if someone had died?

 

To OP, you should quit this job, and find a OTR co who can provide a proper training...

 

ummm, i double checked with my company BEFORE leaving the shipper and was told i was perfectly legal. only to hit the scale and find out otherwise. so, yep, that was my companies fault. for not realizing that oregon has lower weight limits. when they do heavy hauls all the time.

 

well, ok, there is one instance LOL..... But a driver is responsible for driving the truck if it is unsafe or overweight, unless they hold a gun to your head that cant make you take it. But your situation is a tad bit different. if you get an overweight the ticket is the drivers not the companies.

 

There might be hop for you yet
