You obviously knew there was no type of training when you took the keys and started that log book. The amount of money a company makes has nothing to do with your lack of speaking up for yourself. As far as company training goes, what do you think they could have done that would have directly prevented the accident? If you can't perform under pressure in a tight place then you have no business in a truck. You going to call your dispatcher when you have to back around a blind corner to bump a dock? Reverse serpentine to drop a trailer in a hole? My favorite, back into a building with 13'7" height clearance, 3 feet on each side of trailer, off of a 2 lane road with cars parked on both sides. ( Maryland Blows!)

Your school never taught you to clear the backing area and GOAL? Right. Must be the company's fault.
Learn from your mistake. Get thicker skin. You think the flak you're catching here is rough, wait until your corner cutting costs someone their life or they get injured.
Its a dangerous job. Take it seriously, learn from your mistakes, and understand that constructive criticism is something you can learn from.Wanderingaimlessly and Grymm Thank this. -
I don't want so sound bad.. but did you tell your company about this or did they find out from the insurance company? If they didn't find out before you left the scene you are toast. and you will not work in this industry for a while as your dac will be on fire
Now if they keep you remember that this happened and learn from it my friend.. don't allow your future to be determined by not learning from this.. Good luck...
and don't walk in the office raising hell about not being trained properly as you will have a hard time finding a job right now..rockee Thanks this. -
Don't stress over it. Companies tend to give you 1 minor oppsie mistake but also keep in mind that one day it could potentially come back to haunt you and so don't be surprised.

I was wondering this myself . Sounds like he wanted to settle himself to keep the carrier from knowing about it . Now they will wonder what else he tried to cover up .

We feel your services should no longer be required until you get adequate training . Are you going to train more or just continue as you are ?Wanderingaimlessly and Grymm Thank this.

I don't trust spotters either. I stock up on balloons at the dollar-store & if I have to get within inches of something, I'll blow one up and use masking tape to affix it at the point of contact.

I am so sorry. In my quest to make sure everyone can relate to me, I tone my intellect down. Thank You for referring to me as a "Hillbilly" as it were. My "travel agent" prefers to keep me out west to maximize his cash flow. I find having two MBA's + a CDL with every endorsement , and a private aircraft license quite fulfilling. I would recommend if you have problems with the language seek the use of a person that may be able to translate it to you. Best of luck. Tramp
Grymm Thanks this. -
No Body is there but ME. Training teaches me caution. Might take me 30 minutes to back in. Safety and skill are the key. This thing is 70' long. Not many people can do this. I can.
Puppage, CertifiedSweetie, RickG and 2 others Thank this.
